Seaplane Tenders?
Anyone try building these on a crappy light cruiser hull? 3 or four seaplane launchers and I guess you can put a dinky gun on it if you really wanted. Did it work well for the fleet you attached to?

I didn't know you could have tender sea planes.

All jokes aside, I never really thought about making sea-plane cruisers, at least since they only improve spotting and sub detection.

It is excellent. Use it as light escort carriers and load it just with fighters to mitigate enemy CV and some minor air and naval battle is decided by old good firepower and torpedos only.

Tbh, there is no reason building ships above cruisers (too expensive, time and fuel consuming for the gain)

EDIT: talking about using converted cruiesr as light CV. If you meant air catapults than those are for increasing detection only - using those on my patrol light cruisers.

Yep the Catapults are for a higher Detectionrate. Togehter with Radar that´s ammazing. I build them too for Ships of the Cruisers Class which are on Patroldutys / Escort-Dutys and such (like historical).

And on BB´s / BC´s (like historical) for an improvement there too for Battles etc.

The reconstruction as an light or normal Aircraft Carrier is a long process. Do that only if you have enought Naval Dockyards and Naval Bases in that Area.

I play Germany and I´m thinking of to modernise the 2 old warships (Schleswig-Holstein, Schlesien). So I have 2 options:

a) a Standard-Refit like historical (new Guns, AA, Engines etc. and get a historical never made replacement of the Armor to an BC)

b) a Total-Refit to an light Airplaine Carrier (were never done, but were a better option)

I play Germany as well. I was thinking the detection from a few sea plan tenders could be used to help Submarine task forces find their mark while making sure to have speed above the typical heavy cruiser for safety.

I like the idea of turning the pre-dreads into aircraft carriers but it would be some time into the war for me. I have to construct the 5 Hipper class cruisers - complete the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau - Build destroyers for escort - Build Submarines - Build Torpedo boats - and get the Bismarck and Tirpitz under construction all before the war starts. I dont think I could handle a carrier conversion on top of that before the war. But I def would consider it later depending on how things are going at sea.
