Also, those tabs in the top right is how you research tank variants and carrier versions of aircraft.
Thanks
So just to confirm , after i researched superheavy battleship , i need to create a design for it and give it "bismarck class" as a name ?
That means there is no default template of bismarck class in the game ?
This is the template from the 1939 scenario if you wanna recreate it in 1936. https://i.imgur.com/mvRMWi2.png
Super Heavies are ships like the Yamato class and the never built Montana class.
The reason why the Bismarck was so much bigger and better than the allies ships of the time is that it was a design generation newer and ignored the London naval treaties. Most of the capital ships of the other countries were old and dated from the pre treaty naval arms race.
The Super-Heavy Battleship is the H-Class with the biggest Calibre you can have 40,1 cm. Bismark and Tirpitz get 38 cm Calibre Guns.
It wasn't really any better than Allied battleships of the period. For example, it was slightly faster and had slightly more armor than a North Carolina class battleship, but the North Carolina was more heavily armed. They would have been an even match.
The Bismark got it's reputation, as being some super weapon, because it got a lucky hit on a battle cruiser. Any battleship could have done the same thing.
The Bismarck had it's reputation before it sank the Hood. It was the primary target for the Royal Navy because it was new, fast and heavily armed compared to the british counterparts.
The NCs also didn't start their service until the year after.
When the Bismarck was put into service, the only ship in the Royal Navy who stood a chance against it was the Prince of Wales, but it was fresh off the block with an untrained crew and master. That is why the Hood was sent with the PoW to the Denmark Strait, to provide some experience to the task force.
