Why does the German Reich have to have a censored flag?

HoI4 is a historical game and I don't understand why some themes are censored.

Because it is illegal in some countries to display that symbol.
Elsewhere you do not get any censorship related to the flag.

These should uncensor most parts of the game that were censored due to Paradox not wanting to make 2 versions of the game like many games do (see Wolfenstein) to comply with German (and others probably) laws which forbid NAZI imagery, or because they didn't want to upset the SJW's who call for censorship of history and will try to cancel those who don't do what they want.

Yeah, it's part of the extended propaganda campaign against the Axis. The end goal being justifying WWII despite it being arguably a failure on the part of the Allies because the Comintern was allowed to take over Eastern Europe and Asia.

Justifying failing to liberate Poland from the Soviets and China from the commies. The Axis had to be built up to a big enough boogeyman to make the comintern look like it wasn't as bad or worse.

Allies did it pretty well, some of the nazi top brass got a free ticket to america in order to help the usa, and unit 731, no one was ever punished, because the soviets and usa protected them in exchange for information and discovery.

This is not even the correct flag tbh, that other mod stopped working or atleast did last I played. But you can get correct or close to historical flags for Germany and a few other countries who also have the wrong colours.

By the argument about Nazi's the Americans, Soviets and Japanese should also be cencored, its just that people that have no interest for history, only understand/hear the short story about how the great America saved everyone (yes they actually think that, I blame movies)

Indeed, the problem is nobody gets angry on you if it was about the Soviets or British you wanted uncensored. I understand when they are forced to censor, like the German law or Japanese law, then its out of their hands.


Next thing is that we have to censor Sweden and Carolus Rex.. I could just see some "what modern world would deem" a right wing group hijack his name and use it for propoganda, tbh I think some do.. But why should that censor history?? Its Deus Vult all over again

When they're literally forced to for legal reasons it's more understandable, though it's always possible to go the Wolfenstein route and have two versions of the game, a censored one for countries that require it and an uncensored one for everywhere else.
Not sure what those laws are meant to accomplish though since censoring history is going to do nothing but annoy people.

Germany actually had the US as a inspiration for much they did pre ww2, not just the experimenting on the poor or those with mental illness.. But also how to do stuff politically, streagic and even more so how to do war... I don't think anything should be censored, not a flag, not a person, not a political ideology, not even religion... We should learn from history, not shove it under the rug.. Also I don't think you know what a strawman is, a strawman argument is where you create an argument that doesn't actually exist. Comparing you to an sjw isn't an argument to begin with it's a comparison, it's also a rather apt comparison as you share several things in common with them, wanting to censor history you find 'problematic', calling those you disagree with NAZI's, wishing harm upon those people and insulting their families and not actually engaging with the argument itself.
