Game is unplayable on my linux machine
I don't know what but the game now performs horrible. It runs at 3 fps, no kidding. It did not used to run this badly. Tweaking around the settings, i found the culprit is the full resolution and high quality pixel shader both of which if turned off, made the game look atrocious. The game has no such issues on windows so I presume it had to do with the graphics driver. The game doesn't seem to be using the graphics card properly.

My computer is running arch linux with kde plasma desktop. My graphics card is radeon r9 380, my graphcis driver is the open source amdgpu. Cpu is fx 8320, ram is 8 guig ddr4.

Can anyone please provide me a fix?

Contact their tech support at:

You will need a paradox account and sync it to steam to access that forum section.

If it helps, it runs perfectly on my linux+amdgpu system, so it _can_ work.
I didn't have to do anything special.

I can't look at your screenshot. The link drops me back to the main photobox page. Maybe if i disabled ad blockers or something, but, meh.

I am using Linux myself... But if you are in to gaming, forget about Linux. As simple as that. Sticking to Linux this ignorantly isn't cool nor is it smart nor does it have any purpose. Use Linux for what it is made for and use windows for w hat it is useful for, and that is pretty much only gaming.

linux is capable of gamning so why the hell you telling me to use windows for. Read the dsescription for this game, it is linux/steamOS compatible. If it is adverstise as compatible, dont go telling the users to switch an entire fcking operating system, fix the game on the linux platform. jeeze.

Linux is capable of working SOME games but clearly not the majority of games. The majority of players is using windows, if you like it or not. They won't invest a lot of time making things work for Linux as it's simply not profitable.

If you want to enjoy every game without a massive hussle, suck it up snowflake. Get windows running either via workstation or just get a windows rig.

As I've said, I am using Linux on a daily basis but I am fed up with the ignorance of some Linux users who fanatically stick to Linux but also want to enjoy the privilege of gaming.

Simply screw your twisted mindset.

What system and hardwares are you using?

#cat /proc/cpuinfo
model name : AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core Processor
# cat /proc/version
Linux version 4.18.16-gentoo
#lspci
VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Ellesmere [Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X] (rev e7)
# lsmod
amdgpu

Don't try Gentoo to fix your problem. You may learn a lot, so long as you like command lines, but, it will be hard work.
Do other 3D games work for you? There's plenty of free games to test, Dota2 for example.
Arch have the best wiki. Have you followed their amdgpu page?

Read what steamn client for linux means and what native games for linux means. Do you bloody tell console gamers to turn on their pc if their games run laggy or not at all on consoles? give me a fcking break. It has nothing to do with whats profitable or not. If a developer is gonna relaease their product for a platform, they have the responsibility to support it. OR not realease it at all and get profits for broken products that do not run.

Also, besides this game, I also play company of heroes 2 with mac players who can not play cross platform multiplayer with windows so stop shoving windows to those who do not desire it or have reasons not to have it.

Their wiki did not help with my issue so I went on their forum for help and well... Arch forum is toxic. I went there to ask for help installing the proprietary amdgpu pro and... well, this is what I get.

The second guy was helpful, the other is just a duche, i wont be visiting there again.

Like the last 3 people just use Windows.

Linux can run SOME games but not a majority. Your best bet is contact paradox support or switch to windows.

That is irrelevant given that THIS GAME is specifically sold as being able to run on Linux. It doesn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ matter how stupid the product in question is - if you take the customers money then you need to deliver the product. Anything else is fraud.

For what it's worth, HOI4 seems to run fine with radeon on Radeon R9 290X/390X
