@OP
You said you had a BSOD, that indicates a Problem with your Hardware... despite your unwillingness to share any Logs that could not only help you but also others that may use a similar Setup, you should have a closer look at all and every components you have installed in your System.
Not only your CPU, GPU and Ram but also your PSU and your Input Devices... your Bluescreen should have given you all the Informations you need to find out what has caused it.
Anyway, sad to see you departing.
I wish you good times in what ever Games you might play in the Future.
Heat or an insufficient Power Supply can also cause it... just saying.
Also, I have a considerable library. The only other game that has done a BSOD was Endless space 2 which is a known issue long term as the save game gets corrupted. Which I believe is what is happening in X4.
As stated, I have 177 hours into it.. and once I start making progress with ships, the PHQ expansion. and combat. the game freezes up at random. I could be motionless on a station going through the menus, or in space and hit Shift 1 to run away from approaching Zenon forces.. instant freeze.
And of course the last autosave was an hour ago.. so all that transpired... didn't... this is the frustration that I cant get past. one cannot expect to brush off the last hour of gaming over and over again.
I realize the common thought is to point to my system. there must be something wrong with it. Yet this only happens with 2 games so far. ES2 and X4.
So when you have over 500 games and only 2 drop out.. its hard for me to accept that the problem rests with my system.
You also didnt mention whether you mod or not, which could absolutely cause crashes. But bsods? Doubt.
@OP
You just were very vague with your post and it just seem like a post to vent your anger. While I do very much enjoy the X games and X4 a lot, I know they have their issues. I however never had a BOSD with X4. I have crashed a few times before (due to my laptop heating issue. Very old and needs a repast). I haven't had to much issues with X4, but as suggested posting logs do help. You aren't a tester, but like any support request, someone needs to start somewhere.
Bsod is always related to hardware or driver problem. ( even corrupted OS files )
Also Bsod should create a minidump and you can find the source of the problem there. Microsoft has a windows debug tool for that.
Older windows versions were better on bsod because the bsod screen told your what happend.
I hope you get it fixed, sometimes a fresh reinstall of windows and everything is a good idea... pc gaming is great when you have no issues with your hardware but it can be a pain when you start having problemes ! hope you fix it.
As others have said, drivers could be the issue also. It's really hard to nail down exactly why a BSOD happened, and would mostly be about trial and error.
By themselves, the freezes could be an X4 problem, I've had a save game start freezing randomly minutes after loading it (the background music would keep playing while X4 was locked up). For whatever reason the freezes don't happen anymore. But I've never had X4 cause a BSOD.
I am not savy enough to know what the dump file is pointing to as the problem..
I will attempt to resolve this and try again. Only because I do enjoy the series. and this latest event left a sour taste..

The above was highlighted in red on BlueScreenView.
If needed I can post the rest.
And its SO EXTREMELY SAD tbecause the better ideas and the better "how to do it better" should be known to egosoft but they effecticely ignore it.
This is (almost) how a 60€ game should look and/or be after 3 years:

They just do useless wasted stuff like "terraforming" - well, than "play-develop" your game further, it doesnt get better this way.
Egosoft has to do some real revolution to get better. the potential is there!
The game is terribly unstable. Every playthrough i had very early a very game breaking bug/crash/problem. For example one time i suddenyl started spinning very fast, was "su ck ed" into a station/space object and couldnt escape and so on.
AI is still broken despite egosoft promised improvements on release day.
The game is and feels simply broken. Egosoft has to do some real refactoring to the game, not just some cosmetic "play-developing".
And your game versioning and long changelogs say nothing good about your game project management. Every company comes to a point where they have to find a new way/improve things.
Wouldn't matter in any other game, but go ahead and check out how large the save files are on your own computer. Seriously, go look.
45 megs.. don't sound like much..
