If the former... go get your Prostate checked ;P
If the latter... learn to use Pause and stop letting those Khaak read your mind ;P
EDIT
Once I got over 90 miners in this sector they started to appear. It will be interesting to see if they disappear once I get back down to 80
EDIT
Once I took the miners back down to 80 the Khaak disappeared.
The Void, Psious Mists 4 and Asteroid belt all have crazy Kha'ak spawns. I can look away for 2-5mins and 1-4 new groups have spawned. Had to upgrade all my miners to large ones (also cut my miners count in half with that) to not have to rebuild my miners once every 10minutes.
I have maybe 20-30 miners of my own in total, split between those 3 and other sectors, so it must be the AI miner spam that it's causing them to spawn (or something went wrong with the hotfix). Rarely I see more than maybe 6 of my miners in the same sector, due to their slow travel speed.
Literally all I can do (or could do, if I wanted - L miners can tank 8+ medium kha'ak so I can slack with it) is to issue attack orders with my patrols...
the minute Kha'ak start showing up I hunt down it stations with impunity.
You can experiment with the number of attack orders - more orders means more area covered but also longer response times.
But just not having your ships out of position at the ass-end of the sector is already worth a lot compared to the normal patrol command.
Though for reference i've had the same khaak infestation in Pious Mists and a single Gorgon Vanguard (shard batteries + flak turrets) modded for maximum speed keeps the sector clean by itself for about 20 hours now with no issues (and also collects a lot of mod parts in the process).
It just follows a loop of 5 attack enemies in range/collect loot orders covering the resource belt in the middle where my miners actually are so it generally engages pretty fast if enemies appear.
I've never see one spawned above or below the ecliptic, so you don't have to look up or down.
The stations are fairly easy to destroy, just mind they'll spawn some ships to get in your way, so be prepared.
The repeat order thing is in the default behaviors. It's basically buy here, sell there.
This guy gives a good explanation for it's various applications.

So currently I'm using mimic behaviour to create multiple patrol fleets under 1 fleet (for less fleet spam). Works good enough, no dead miners and my stations are not starving for resources so they are doing it fast enough.
For anyone wondering, basically you have your patrol fleet like usually, just set mimic ones with their own subordinates under it. Like:
- Patrol fleet leader*
-- Mimic 'leader' 1.
--- Attack subordinates for the mimic 1.
-- Mimic 'leader' 2.
--- Attack subordinates for the mimic 2.
-- Mimic 'leader' 3.
--- Attack subordinates for the mimic 3.
etc.etc.
Each mimic with their subordinates seem to doing their patrolling as individual patrol fleets, as far as I've observed.
* = Behaviour mule. I use destroyer so it wont die, because the whole fleet structure relies on its behaviour, so can't have it dying on me.
What do I have to do to have something even remotely this exciting happen in my game? There is nothing for me to shoot, nothing invades anywhere, the xenon are couch potatoes, and the kha'ak in my game have never been seen with more than 4 ships at a time outside of missions that spawn them. I envy you.
That how I keep finding those Kha'ak bases myself to exterminate.
As for patrols... Mine just stay in the middle of the system and don't move...
