if that mentioned aim assist is "on" your weapons will try to fire towards the indicator you see.
as i just have said, this is an indicator were you should aim if you want to hit a moving target... with aim assist your weapons will do that for you, without it you have to do it your self.
thats all there is to say.
I'll go and double check that aim assist is off if that is what you say the problem is.
Thanks for the reply.
just make sure that your weapons are indeed firing at your cursor before trying to aim for the locks... the very first shot tends to go straight forward.
If the lockbox isn't rotating, it's pretty easy to just slide the ship over a bit and get the lock under the little dot. (Best to have just one weapon enabled when shooting at lock boxes.) I assume what's happening in that case is that the turret is aiming at a point under my cursor that's well behind the lock box.
What gets confusing is what happens when the box is rotating. The aim point starts jumping all over the place; way more than what I would expect because the aim point is in the distance!
So, when you shoot at a lockbox from 10 meters away, your guns are "trying to shoot at the end of your nose"!
As the box turns the dots will hit the box and lock as they pass. This makes it look like the dot moved, but it really didn't, because it's a laser that you only see when it hits something..
The way to do it, is turn off the sight computer autoaim and don't look at the crosshair. Instead look at the dots for each gun and use just one, with the others missing the box. Careful here, if the other guns hit the box you can blow up every time. Best to disable all but one gun, if you can set it up that way.
Once you get the idea, you can open it every time (almost). 8-)
And if, then an equipment dock shall be your first stop again
The white circle doesn't mean anything relevant here, the dot is the only thing that matters. Where the dot is is where your shot goes. The white dot will "drop" a little when you mouse over something because it's adjusting for distance to the recognized target. Deselect the box, put the white dot on the lock, press middle mouse to fire at where your dot is. As mentioned it helps a lot to make a weapon group with only a single weapon selected for doing this.
If it's too frustrating you can tell your pilot to do it for you, they are really bad at it if you are on the ship watching them, but if you order them to open a box from another system they have a pretty good chance of getting it.
If i understand mechanics correctly if you fire with spacebar ship is firing at reticle ,if u use mouse middle gun willl try to shoot at your cursor (if gimbal angle will allow this).
Beam lasers are pretty good. All you need to do is tap-click on each point once aimed properly, since they are hitscan.
Plasma is not that bad... with some practice one can open Lockboxes even with a Destroyer Main Gun...
