When the Xenon win....
What am I to do here? Hatikvas choice now has a xenon defense platform and over 20 ships mediom and above...nobodys strong enough to deal with that, and I don't really want tthem to linger there forever

I think it's pretty funny how players of both sides of the Xenon complain about them.

"Xenon are too OP!" -You
"Xenon are too crap" -Me

To answer your question, what are you to do? Become stronger, or restart. Not much to do, really. I hope you weren't expecting a secret kill switch for the Xenon or something.

How to become stronger? Just do missions, get money, build stations, build a fleet, and fight them. The game is pretty straight forward. A bit too straight forward.

Setup a blacklist for that sector so that none of your ships get killed there, and move on. You can deal with them later on when you're strong enough.

what this guy is talking about us the following: to win against the xenon, you have to button up the zipper. and the other factions in this game aren't capable of that.

In order to stop xenon incursions you have to build defence stations at the gates leading to their sectors. I'm using standard 15 million costs design. It is capable to reap any xenon fleet into pieces with no help from any fleets. Thats it and you are safe. To clear any xenon sector only one destroyer and corvette is enough. But if you completely wipe them out then what to do in the galaxy? You need a constant treat to compete. Later in game all factions will supress xenons anyway and that is sad.
So really they are too crap.
There was a hope to khaak to invade but I've seen them only on holidays.

In a way, both sides are right. X4 is very high RNG, intentionally or not. Every game start is different. My first file, I didn't really bother exploring the outer sectors, I was too busy learning the ropes, and quite predictably the Xenon started making inroads to Commonwealth sectors by the time I actually went to explore. In my current file, however, the Split up north crushed their Xenon without any help. Last time I checked, they were destroying their last shipyard in Matrix#598. The Teladi fared worse, though, the Xenon took everything beyond Hewa's Twin I, and they almost crushed ANT too, by the time I arrived with my fleet they almost destroyed The Void. But I built up some economy and now (with the help of the HOP) completely annihilated them down south and took 5 sectors for myself. But everything above Heretic's End is Xenon, so there's gonna be another huge fight coming up.

Anyway, my point is, the Xenon is a threat, they have to be. How much, that depends largely on RNG and how you react to them. You can let the Commonwealth duke it out with them or you can go on the offensive, or somewhere in between, it's your choice.

^^^

even had the ZYA invade argon prime 8 hours in with 6 rattlesnakes and destroy the wharf. X4 has a ton of RNG.

Have a look at their L-size turret damage stat. lol

Well when I started and found the gate to silent witness was being camped by an I and two K... I knew it was going to be a !FUN! time. I'm actually working from a different angle as two sectors have been wiped clean by the wars and now particular goods are in short supply...

Last I played was a year ago, and I am loving the changes to the AI. Game feels a lot more dynamic now. But yeah, as always it is set up almost too balanced where only the player can really influence how things go.

I hoped SCA can rebuild destroyers now.... Ii got rather bored when I played last time taking out all 5 of them and blockaded their HQ in a single fighter

Yeah the Xenon are powerful, but still too passive for my taste, yes they take sectors now and then but they could crush the commonwealth in an instant if they really wanted to.

Just ignore them until you are ready to face them, once you fought them and some other factions, you´ll realize how weak and exploitable the AI is.

NPCs usually engage them with build-ships. coz that are the only ones, that last longer then a few seconds ... a few more seconds.

I no longer recommend using Defense stations, the money is better spent building your first fleet and or station to increase your income. DEFENSE is NOT the way to deal with the Xenons.. it's a losing battle.

They real goal here is to take out Warfs/Shipyards... ANNIHILATION is the ticket and to do that you'll need Destroyers and they'll need protection via a torpedo wing of fighters, the torpedo wing will also need protection via a dedicated fighter wing. That's the easy way...

So... how big a fleet do you need? 4 Destroyers can take upwards of 40 minutes to take out a Warf/Shipyard. There will usually be one I and possibly 2-5 K's that will seek to impede your aggression. You'll want to scout the territory first to find the bases and weaken the defenses.
Often a K will be isolated.. take them out as those opportunities appear. In this mission you also want to weaken fighters in the area which will no doubt happily oblige.

A great time to launch a Shipyard attack is right after a I & K invasion fleet strikes and actually even during. In my next playthrough I'm going to go after shipyards with as little as 2 destroyers, 10 torpedo fighters & 10 dedicated fighters... what can I say I'm lazy. Currently I have 1 Carrier, 4 Destroyers, 15 Torpedo and 25 fighters and can take an I and 3 K's with fighter cover in around 10 minutes with zero losses.

There are 4 warf/shipyard locations at the start of the game... the Xenon's will build more however... the clock is ticking. You'll want to go after them in succession.

12 Rattlesnakes will solve all of your problems... Just point and click the targets in a chain and start SETA.

I'm a great fan of Firepower over shields however At +21 with FF, the Snake is $35M. At +27 with HOP the Odysseus is $18M. For the same credits I could have 23 Odysseus. 48 Plasma's or 69 plasmas... hum.

Besides I don't do OOS combat and managing 4 destroyers is nightmare enough....lol. At east the fighters aren't idiots.

Is is possible for a faction to get completely wiped out? So far I haven't seen it happen.
Interloper-69 May 4, 2020 @ 5:36am
I prefer just observing as Xenon destroys stations and ships all over the universe. After I see a nice proffffit margin in the horizon by selling materials to rebuild the stations and ships, I send my fleet in and destroy the Xenon and drive them back where they came from. I even put up a nice blockade to their gate so they don't come and mess with rebuilding. After all the stations are back and everyone one is happy, I just pull my fleet away and let the Xenon pour in again.
Nothing personal, it's just business.
