If you can easily party up with your friend, there's enough content in the game to keep you both happy for months. Why would a game provide that that for free? Free trial is just to provide a taste of the game and see if this is something you want to play longterm. Not to give a full game with 3/5 expansions provided.

Also if this is the only issue you have then, you and your friend will be automatically put into Novice Network chat channel when you join in. You can ask anyone there to help you both party up (ie inviting you both to a party, making you the leader and then leaving) and they should be happy to oblige.

Just play with your friend using your subbed account.

the free trial is to see if the game is something people would enjoy before purchase, hard to decide that if you cant natively party up with friends if anything thats counter intuitive. I understand they want to make money but the latest and sub latest content is already locked
I don't want random party invites from RMT spam bots. it's good they have this restriction.
Since you have a subbed account, I'd suggest you make the party and invite your friend, and use the New Game+ feature to replay content with them. Provide it you're far enough, you can repeat most of the story that way and make sure you both stay in the same party.
The free trial needs even more restrictions. Bring back the time limit for starters.

so make it free trial accounts can only invite other free trial accounts...or friends

i get i can use my main account, it was mostly so we can both be fresh together then i can swap to my account when they catch up.

just a little downer you cant is all
Why not make a new character on your subbed account and switch back to your main if your friend is all caught up?
That way you can still do everything and start on the same level. And you won't have to deal with most of the trial's restrictions.
SE already give a pretty big free trial and the people still have something to complain.

if a free "trial" doesnt let you "try" the game properly yes i guess people would complain ?
Its afterall a game with a subscription. You can play the game up unti level 80 without paying anything and no time limit which might take you months to reach the end. Be happy you can play it that far. Other devs gives you a simple demo which you can play for 2 hours and then you can go fk yourself and have fun deciding if you like the game or not.

Or they can make an alt and play with their friend.
