Chilly Bowl
This place is the devil. Taiwanese Shaved Ice is the screwiest recipe imaginable, there's two different ways to punch in "powdered sugar" thanks to cannoli vs funnel cake, like eight different ways to punch in "chocolate", and you get NO SIDEDISHES to slow things down.

This is a frustrating level in that I found the second to last day harder than the last. The addition of funnel cake in the last day makes things a lot easier, because it takes so long to cook that you can ignore several of the slots while focusing on the more difficult ice cream and shaved ice.

ya i just played the 2nd to last day and ran into a holding station flaw that i had w/ other levels...prepping cannolis ahead of time actually hurts you more than just making them one at a time so the prep station stays occupied longer :P

Yep... for holding station optional foods, they just hurt you on the faster levels.

welp...if anyone is looking for an alternative to taking speed...just finish chilly bowl w/ all gold medals.....my heart is about to explode after doing that

I did a perfect Chilly Bowl day 8 with cannolis in the holding station the whole time. Total combo 128.

No more getting screwed up by mango, chocolate/cherries, cookie dough and rainbow sherbet.

Hint for cannolis: All recipes that use peppermint or chocolate chips use chocolate sauce. All recipes with gummies use caramel sauce. So you can commit G space AS, HOS, and MOS to muscle memory. I think all recipes with cherries might use chocolate sauce, but I'm not 100% certain on that one. The only recipe with orange rinds is CPO space AS.

I'll jump in as the minority here in defense of Chilly Bowl 8. I can't get gold on it, but I think it's okay for there to be final levels in this game that I can't get gold on.

I don't think the Taiwanese shaved ice is actually that bad. Yes, the mango is weird, but every other ingredient on the first two pages follows its first letter, so you just have to remember "mango = weird on first two pages and normal on page 3." On page three, you just have to remember to ignore all the Js and memorize the two Bobas. It's certainly not as messed up as ice cream / canoli, where "chocolate" can be C, H, or O and it's all over the place.

For me the problem is simply the speed of the level; I'm not quite fast enough to handle rush hour. It's same problem I have with the final level of Biggs Burger -- the foods are fine (if somewhat challenging), but the speed is just a bit beyond what I can keep a grip on.

Having gotten gold on the second-to-last Chilly Bowl without much effort, I do believe that level is objectively easier than the last one. Having one less prep station and a lower buzz is more significant than not having funnel cake.

I second this, once you understand this, cannoli should become way easier. Where I was screwing up the most was putting in cherry instead of chocolate chip but I got it through my thick skull eventually.

With Shaved Ice, there is quite a few exceptions where ingredients start with weird letters, mango is A in the first 2 stages and M in the third, Boba Blk Bry, whatever the hell that even is, is E etc. You're just gonna have to remember that.

The Ice Cream gave me very little trouble since I am pretty sure most of the ingredients start with reasonable letters. Anyway, good luck with the last shift. I managed gold on it yesterday after what must have been at least 3 hours of trying.

Yea I am having issues with Chilly Bowl levels in general, there's so many ice creams and toppings. The shaved ice sounds like a b.

The thing in general is that there aren't appetizers on chilly bowl so you don't get that extra redonk 30 seconds.

I don't know how anyone even made it as far as day 7 or 8. Even day 5 is already impossible to perfect.

3 super complex recipes in the same day with no side dishes and 8 prep stations is straight up impossible. I probably have to leave this one until the dev rebalances side dishes.

I guess part of the issue is that I'm using mouse and keyboard (keyboard to select prep stations, switch pages, and accept orders, and mouse to enter ingredients), and I think this stage is straight up impossible to beat without using keyboard only. On complex recipes ilke ice cream keyboard can save about one second, which is enough with how little time you have available.

Mango is only M on the last page...otherwise it's A.

I feel like one of the problems with Chilly Bowl is also just that the stages aren't very fun. The main new feature of CSD2 is the holding stations, which add another layer of strategy to the game, but they're totally irrelevant here as Chilly Bowl has no side dishes and prepping Cannolis / Pie uses, at best, 1-2 of your available holding stations. There's zero strategy involved in Chilly Bowl, it's just a 100% memory / typing speed test that's insanely unforgiving.

I feel that, in general, the hardest stages in the game should be the one where you have to make judicious use of your holding stations, moreso than the ones that are just about typing speed. This is why IMO, the current trend where the hardest C4H stages just take your side dishes away is a bad trend.

Just finished getting gold on every chilly bowl level. The hard part was most definatly the memorization. Personaly for the dhaved ice i memorized Mango as just being A once you get to the final mango there is nothing you can place with A so even if i mispressed it it wasn't an issue, everything else on the shaved ice was fairly easy to rememember though. A good thing to remember is that ther is only 3 fruits and 5 jellys mean there are not as many combos for is as you would think. I really do think that milk should just be "I" though

With the canolies i remembered sauces and sugar as a pair either OS or AS and the chocolate and chips simply as H i didnt class the chocolate sauce as chocolate but as a sauce. Also like many other have suggested i didn't use the holding stations for the canolies.

Ice cream i never really gave me any major issues as i took my time with it on day 1 and the controls for it a very similar to what they were in CSD1. I did have issues with the sprinklles between the canolie and ce cream but thankfully S P are both safe buttons or the respective recipes.

With funnel cake it helps to realise that they always have whip so you can hit W before you even read the recipie.

Oh god glad it's not just me. The last level is the only one I haven't gotten gold on and 9 times out of 10 it's the shaved ice that gets me*. I'm forever pressing M for mango and getting milk.

Miss the custom binding from CSD1 because I'd remap milk to I in a heartbeat and have mango be a consistent M.

I don't have any issues using the HS for cannoli in the last level though. But my problem isn't the speed just that I haven't gotten shaved ice through my thick skull after all these shifts.

*The other 1 is me pressing C for cookie dough instead of D on the ice cream. Because I'm an idiot. There's been a lot of swearing today.
HappyCigarettes Sep 29, 2017 @ 12:53pm
I feel like shaved ice is similar to how sushi was in CSD1 in that any mistake causes it to be 'bad' instead of just average.

But if you're going for gold then whether it's bad or simply average makes no difference since it's failed anyway.

Just messed up SI at 9pm and had to go walk around for a bit.

I like C4H, I just don't like the missions that don't let you have side dishes.
