Nobody ordering any sides that are on the menu
Even though the menu says chili, or fries, or macaroni, nobody has ordered any of these sides even once as long as I've been playing.

Glitch? I don't understand why it would be ,

1) on the menu
2) and available to prep.

But never ordered.

Also, I don't understand why some times you can prep certain items, and later you can't? The ability to prep chicken fingers suddenly went away one day, and everyone started ordering them.

Hi,

side dishes are automatically taken by clients waiting the normal order.

Hmmm, I dont understand. I've never been asked to make any. I've never seen any get sold. I'm contantly throwing them away when I make them.

Nobody has ever asked for any side dish, be it chili, french fires, onion rings, etc.

I'm very confused.

Clients take the side dishes spontaneously. As explained in the tutorial.

You will see the number of portions in the holding station diminishing as clients waiting.

When you see a happy fulfilled order with sparks flashing around the smiling yellow faces, that means they have also taken a side (and a drink). Those are called Delicious orders. As long as you have available sides, you'll serve one per entree until you run out or it goes bad.

Edit: Also, some dishes are available as optional holding station foods, such as chicken strips or nuggets. You can either prep them beforehand in a holding station, or cook it when the customer orders it.

You are making a lot of posts about basic gameplay mechanics that are explained in the tutorial, or can be answered just by looking around the game menus and paying attention, or have previous threads in the forum for people who also didn't find it clear (though I understand posting about what sounded like a glitchy designer).

thats the point though. its not part of the game mechanics as you might expect like with the main game and there is no indication of it being ordered or enjoyed specifically after you went to the trouble to make it, other than a portion dissapearing,

I've never seen it explained either.

I'm really sure it gets explained in the tutorial.

That's where I learned how it worked anyway.

The tutorials are optional though, so not something someone skipping the tutorial would learn.

With respect to the OP, this is explained in the tutorial. Otherwise I imagine these forums would be swamped with questions about it, because the mechanic is indeed a bit confusing. :)

Axiom's explanation is not quite correct. Customers do not order side dishes while waiting; they order side dishes after receiving a perfect order. So, if a customer orders a salad and you make it perfectly, then the customer will also take (and pay for) a side dish if one is available in the holding station.

The game does not prompt you to make side dishes. It's up to you whether to make them or not. :)

Just as an added note of clarification, though, having sides ready and waiting in the holding stations does increase the amount of time a customer is willing to wait for their entree to be prepared.

@Grenades it is explained in the tutorial, but to provide further clarification, think of it like this. The side dishes you prepare are like a little buffet that your customers go and grab from after you've given them their main meal (assuming any side dishes are prepared). Them doing this turns the order into a "Delicious!" order, which grants you an added tip on top of the primary order. In addition, simply having side dishes prepared and ready in your Holding Stations increases the overall patience of your customers. So unless you like that added challenge, get to cooking those brussel sprouts!

Side note: Only one of the same kind of side dish will improve your customer's patience. So having two of the same type of side dish prepped (I.E; two sets of brussel sprouts) will not further improve your patience.

The one question I have is that, well, sometimes you'll just randomly not get a Delicious order when you have a side ready. I'm not talking about maintaining the drinks (which gives a Perfect when done correctly), but actually serving something. It happens so rarely that I haven't been able to observe if they actually take a side when this happens.

Apparently this is because you've ran out of drinks but the prep stations have been clogged with too much stuff for the drink chore to come up. Drinks are required to get Delicious so it might explain the problem. That's just what I've heard, though.

side dishes are extra that customers take along with their normal order, it causes the order to produce sparkin smile faces and creates a "delicious" order.

As far as I can tell, having drink maintenance tasks waiting doesn't actually stop you from getting Delicious orders, though.
