Well if you want to cheat it in, open console then type im. Close console hit H to open item menus & take as much fuel as you want.

If you want fuel from gameplay, use Biofuel. Cut trees with chainsaw or HV Harvester & make Biofuel with any constructor. Dump into HV to run it.

Digging up a single vein will set you up for a loooong time.

Thanks for the info

I'm testing user-made vehicles which get half away across the world and then stall out dead

Solar Power for bases.

Thats it in survival really.

Itemmenu for testing, unlimited fuel then.

Survival, throw an Auto Miner down, forever pulls more fuel than it uses.

You can get "renewable" fuel from plant fibers and making biofuel, but to farm them and get one HV fuel tank about per harvest you'll need > 144 plant beds. Something like this will fill an HV once per harvest:

Another way is cut down trees with the HV harvester, then put down like 5 or so portable constructors and dedicate them to making biofuel from the logs.

This is just what I do but I use 6-10 constructors ( I use a few for ore as well, they use no power, must use dark energy or something...) I should point out that this takes a long time, portable constructors are quite slow which is why I use so many of them. I carry 3-4 on me or rather in my ride so I can get by in the field as I am working on something else. An industrial scale fuel plant using a stand alone solar powered base with banks of large constructors is also an option but by that time I have likely found a sorce of fuel packs.

Yep, originally I made this and stripped it down to make the generic farm version:

But like you say it's not that worthwhile once you find several prometheum deposits, especially after you get the unlock points for fusion cells.

Learn how to mod the game. Then you can reduce fuel requirements and/or increase the yield from raw materials as you see fit. It won't help you if you're set on playing multiplayer, however, since modding is disallowed except by the server owner/admin.

Just a thought, there is an option at the start of the game that auto miners deplete the ore in the deposit. I play this way, which makes auto miners a non factor. Never use them, just mine out the ore and move on.

Slap down an autominer on a promethium node and set the game so the node never runs out when auto mining.

in survival, it takes a few steps but i have found a way to produce unlimited fuel.

what you will need,
water generators (more you have the faster you can make more fuel)
a deconstructor
fusion cells unlocked
large constructor
a base with some fuel in it.
a tiny bit of iron

so basicaly heres how it works, put your fuel into your base fuel tank, could be bio ruel, small pro packs, large pro packs, or fusion cells, doesnt matter, when you take it out, it always gives you small pro packs right? so take some of the fuel out of your base, not all youll need your stuff powered still, and place it into the container that will deconstruct it, it will give you pro-pellets, now use pro-pellets, water containers, and steel plates to make fusion cells,

heres where things start to multiply, put the fusion cells into your base fuel tank, then remove some fuel, you have no converted your fusion cellls into small pro packs, heres the kicker,

1 fusion cell = 300 PU costs 50 Pro Pellets
5 small fuel packs = 150 PU cost's 50 Pro Pellets

essentially, you are using water containers and a tiny bit of iron to start doubeling your fuel, its a bit of a lenghy process if you dont have a good amount of fuel to start with (because you need to power the water generators and your base, and the water gens take time) but once you have the system started, your unlimited fuel is there waiting for you.

Totally do able in survival, i do it, it takes some time, you have to be leveled and set up to do it of course, so i dont consider it "cheating" or taking advantage of a loophole, i call it, "i have developed far enough, i dont care about mining fuel anymore."

try this out guys, let me know what you think if youve found ways to stremeline your own producion (and yes i checked, im the first one to post in a forum about this so i take credit for the idea, even tho im probaly not the first to come up with it)

In difficulty settings before you start a new game you can set auto miners so that they do not deplete deposits. Then you can place one over a promethium deposit and just check on it every few days.

as mentioned cut some trees additionally can grow some fiber in ur base biofuel combined with solar panels can be good source for long for small base and small vehicles.
