What's your LEAST favorite aspect of FFIX
As fans we all have a lot of good things to say about the game. But let's all be honest and admit no game is perfect. So what all is your least liked aspect of the game?

Mine has to be a couple aspects of the battle system. Firstly that enemies can still attack if you do nothing and while I know you can change that, you still can't see when they're going to go in relation to when you're characters can attack. Secondly the fact that you can't see their health and other stats. OK I understand it being invisible at the start, but once you scan an enemy to get the stats it would be nice if you could see them after that.

The only other thing I can think of is getting Excalibur II. I mean, the best weapon for Steiner in the game and you can only get it if you get to the last area in the game in under twelve hours. This is a game that takes between 70 and 90 hours for me to complete getting everything else. Why would I give all that up and have my party completely weak just for one good weapon?

These are just small things though as I said, and just tiny gripes I have with an otherwise great game. But how about sharing a few you all found a tiny bit annoying?

that timed hunter mission

Trance system and Mognet.

Trance system for the obvious reason people have brought up. I can probably count on one hand the number of times Trance has actually activated during a pivotol moment. All 100000000 other times have been while fighting some basic, level 3 enemy that managed to smack me once.

Mognet because the order is totally random. I hate sidequests that involve me running around the world, checking every single _______ to find the one that progresses to the next part of the quest, just to repeat the process. And if I recall correctly a few are in areas that are inaccessible later on so you HAVE to have it planned out beforehand.

Mognet is actually fairly straightforward until the end. Each letter goes to the next moogle you encounter in the game. So long as you check around and don't miss any of them you rarely have to backtrack. It's only towards the end of the side quest 9after you can fly around) that it gets annoying when you have to fly to various locations to deliver the last few letters.

Plus it nets you a Protect Ring as a reqard which is very useful and is one of only a few you can find in the whole world. Other places include defeating the Radtime Mouse, finding a secret stash during Chocobo Hot and Cold, and completing the nero brothers sidequest.

Was the protect ring the sole reward for Mognet? Kinda feel that wasn't very rewarding when I got it.

pretty much everything.

I don't like the chibi character models.

I don't like the atmosphere in general. It feels like a Disney cartoon.

The battle is very slow, worst in the series beside 1-3.

The character developmental system is garbage. way worse than FF8. It forces you to use weaker equipment just so you can learn abilities.

The story is boring.

Most of the characters are just there. Beside Zidane and Garnet, they're irrelevance to the story.

BGMs are ok. I like a few tracks but they're not that great overall.

One of the worst FF games I've ever played and one of the most overrated by fans for sure.

Then WTF are you doing here?
I like FF9 but I dislike the character design. For me it seems to occupy an uncomfortable middle ground between super-deformed cute, abstract and a more fully-realistic style. They look like characters from a children's book.

Just disc two in general, It felt like I was going around in one big circle. Sure It was nessacary to learn about the Mist tree and Dagger home town, but everything else I do could without. I also hated that, the only party members we could have was just vivi, Dagger, Quina, and Zidana for most of the disc two.

Second issues, was that I wish that Beatrix could had join the party for good. She was great character, who I wish we could had learn more about.

third issue, This one is more of a joke, but I wanted to have a boss battle againest Queen Brahne,

final issue: Lani should have had a bigger part to play in the story.

Card game was absolute trash and I didn't like how you were forced to play it for "story reasons" at one point. Having several areas closed off in the finale was a massive turnoff for me and it worked against me in my first playthrough where I had no idea where the Octagon Rod was, so I had to beat the game with Vivi only using tier 2 magic.

It was terrible considering how good Triple Triad was

Totally agree with you on the card stuff, but Vivi can buy equipment that teaches higher spells than -ra magic on disc 4, but you're right octagon rod (and thus, the 3 -ga spells) is a missable.
Besides the ending cut scene in the game (which left much to be desired in my opinion), I would have to say the long grind in the game. It is not so much a level grind, as it is a keep this low level hat on one character until he learns the skill from it, and then rotate this low level hat between your characters until all of them learn the skill from it. All the while, your armor rating is going to be all over the place for much of the game due to having crap low level armor and weapons mixed in with newer more powerful ones. I know this phenomena isn't uncommon in RPG's, but it happens way too much in this game. FFIX is my favorite game of all time, and besides these two nitpicky things the game is perfect in my opinion.
