Fallout TV Show is mediocre?
SPOILERS obviously, stop reading if you haven't watched the show yet

Episode 1 = 6.2
the best: the intro, vault design and music
the worst: goofy fight with annoying overused slow-mo effect and the background song, immersion breaking stuff

Episode 2 = 7.8
best = the dialogue and scene with old lady and lucy, that was great, then the intro with Ben Linus and dogmeat training facility also ghoul vs knight fight, good stuff.
worst = goofy, silly Maximus flying with no control due malfunction and screaming, looked like a looney tunes situation

Episode 3 = 6.8
best = the pink water mutant was cool, Mr Ghoul scenes were the best
worst = again the silly, dorky characters, goofy comedy, feels like the comedy you would expect from adam sandler or ben stiller movies. The Squire guy is a total jester, vault dwellers extremely dumb, naive but in a buffoonish way, immersion breaking

Episode 4 = 7.5
Best = Mr Handy scenes, the vault 32 mystery
Worst = the scene were both lose a finger was unnecesary

Episode 5 = 8.2
Best = The railroad, ruined shady sands, the hospital etc the streets it really looks like something you would expect from FO3 or FO4 almost a copy & paste stuff from the games, Vault 32 situation getting more mysterious and disturbing. 10/10
Worst = i'll watch it again cuz tbh so far i think this is my fav ep

----------------------

Episode 1 impressions

Slightly impressed but not enough, the part i enjoyed the most was just the beginning (episode 1) after that everything went down hill, not saying it was terrible but certainly it wasn't great either
(edit: finishing ep3, i must admit, it's getting better...)

Kinda reminds me of "zombieland, kick-a$$, suicide squad or bullet train" style of silly violent comedy, i was expecting something like "starship troopers" as in satire, comedy in a way that you obviously see it mixed pretty well with dark, bizzarre situations. in fallout show it's inserted randomly. then abruptly switch to drama getting rid of satire (BoS guy interrogation and tantrums) its odd, i bet they wanted to show us how males can be sensible, flawed, vulnerable etc.

Also they avoided talking about China but i won't get ahead of myself, haven't watched the rest so i assume they going to tell everyone and i mean the people watching the show that the US has been in conflict with China for a long time.

- DEI elements everywhere, it's pretty obvious, they tried so hard to make the vault dwellers and BoS recruits so diverse, different shapes, haircuts, facial features, all kinds of people etc funny how some are fat and others too skinny it's like the overseer is allowing em to be lazy and eat too much while others do the total opposite, makes no sense, then the protagonist is obvious "Strong Female character" also Maximus friend, "Dane" i was so confused, can't tell if is a she or he or agender or no idea.
Ohh and the dumb white males obviously gotta check that box and when they are not dumb, they are evil, of course, it should be expected.

- Unnecesary sex scene and fap scene. What the hec was the point of showing a guy masturbating in the barracks? why??? there was no need for such thing it doesn't add anything of value to the show or scene.
Then the protagonist removing her underwear to have sex with the guy she just met few minutes ago that was so unnecesary, if they wanted to show sex at least do it properly, clothes off etc nah they kept female character DRESSED and guy totally naked.

- The music was a nice surprise but it was too "high quality" i mean it doesn't have the old vibe cuz they kinda added remastered, polished tracks with no background noise so a bit of the "retro" feeling is lost.

- Is the BoS supposed to be this "religious"? performing ceremonies and wearing robes like ... "unity" would do or any other cultists like children of atom? did BoS performed such ceremonies in the games or acted in such way that you would believe they are a religious order, a cult?

- Everything is too colorful and bright, even in dark rooms or places that are supposed to be dark you can see everything its like there are tiny lamps everywhere, everything looks always iluminated even during night.

- Mr Ghoul scene is the same as Geralt scene in the witcher show or some "jedi" introduction, the obvious purpose was showing how cool and skilled and powerful he is by defeating bunch of random villians so easily, a cliche.

- A vault dweller looking for a missing relative? cmon dude, be original, how come thats the odyssey for the main character? same plot as fo3 and fo4 etc

and I could keep going, anyways it's not a bad episode but i was disappointed, i expected much more, the bad thing about a mediocre or bad episode 1 is that you dont feel too encouraged to keep going.

There are two things that I find hilarious in these comments.

That there are people worried about "the canon" when clearly those who make the series put it where the sun doesn't reach.

And the second thing is that classic group that goes around like they're outclassed and laughs at "those who cry". Dude you're commenting on a Steam forum, you are one of us, the one who's the most embarrassed, yo are "crying" too.

considering the entire first season is on Prime i am not sure why stop to review just one episode.

As a transition from a computer game to a tv series it is a great job. Does everything work. Nope. Do I believe that most worked. Yep.

As BoS were always a semi-religious cult. They have been my favorite faction to slaughter in all the games :steamhappy:.

Also it's a hard balancing act to keep the rabid fanbois appeased AND appeal to an audience that is completely new to the Fallout IP. Based on reviews that are not the OP, :steammocking:, it looks they did that.

I personally liked it enough to binge the whole series. I really enjoyed it.
The two human characters only care about sex

the protagonist, Lucy, the main character all she wanted in life was to breed and talk about sperm, imagine caring for such a complex, intricate, well developed interesting character with that kind of goals.

then the unnecesary sex scene and the guy who was masturbating in the barracks, why? what was the purpose of such scene? it adds no value, contributes with nothing whatsoever, it was vulgar.

the tv show is stuped! it makes no scents... why are the BOS so evil? no one would want to stay or even join eventually since theyre all such a-holes with not a single redeeming feature besides wanting to join just to get the power armor and leave lol. also how did maximus know how to even use the armor? dont you need special training first, otherwise the suit woul literally rip your own limbs off? also him being able to use a jetpack with no jetpack mod on his back or him using flamethrowers on his arms which doesnt exist in lore. also how he needs a squire to carry his stuff for him yet power armor lets you carry heavy sh*t on your own since it enhances your strength and carry weight? or how power armor is so slow in the show (you coul chalk this up to maximus being a noob an not being trained enough to use it properly, yet if he wasnt trained enough then he would have literally haad his limbs torn off trying to move in the suit in the first place). also the power armor foot getting stuck in a wooden floor yet you can literally punch through a concrete wall in a suit. theoretically you could just punch a yao gai in the face and turn it into ground beef without much effort (steel vs flesh)
twiggy Apr 12, 2024 @ 2:38pm
also how they only send 1 power armor trooper and 1 squire on a mission LOL. no millitary organzation would ever sen 1 guy on a mission, you need a squad, its common scents, otherwise that 1 power armor dude just becomes a easy target and a liability

For me it is okay, everything that is Fallout is pretty cool, the Atmosphere and the love for Detail.

The Story went downhill from Episode 6 and really stupid at the end.

At least it is not a desaster like Rings of Power.

Its hilarious to me how easily triggered some of you are. Imagine how bad it would suck if these fragile souls were your co-workers or family and you had to interact with them IRL. Ugh.

would you mind commenting on the topic and talk about the show? what you say is nothing but a strawman and ad hominem, it's irrelevant.

Well, they didn't advertise the series as scratch and sniff, though that would certainly be an interesting concept. :)

Well the NCR fans need to cope that the NCR is gone and that the BOS now rules New California.

It's bad. Don't sugar coat it.

Yawwwwwwn. Strawman ad hominem blahblahblah you sure sound smart.

Your complaints are ridiculous to convey as anything but personal opinions. We get it, you're hyper-sensitive to wokeness in all its forms and mad that you are being left behind as straight white male. You are more than welcome to your opinions but don't try to confuse the dumb kids on this forum by making them seem like facts. Stop being so self-centered as to think the world revolves around your precious ideals.

There is no shortage of obviously agenda driven nonsense to complain about (Rings of Power, Sweet Baby Inc, etc.), but to cry foul at every show, movie or game that includes non-white, non-male people with lifestyles that differ from your own says less about the thing you complain about and everything about how weak and scared you are that society has left you behind. Having an issue with the very minor sexual stuff in the show says loads about you as well. Consider the possibility that your complaints aren't rooted in the world around you but yourself...not a bad thing, its easier to fix yourself than the world.

I am as sensitive to woke BS as MAGA BS, I'll have none of it. This show just doesn't set off those alarm bells for me, its just the normal diversity I see in everyday life.

And throwing around terms like "ad hominem" doesn't impress me, it just makes you look like a nose-in-the-air blowhard who read a few articles readily available to anyone.

I'm absolutely triggered by pseudo-intellectual argumentative angry-at-the-world weirdos. They totally bring out my inner Larry David, no shame in that whatsoever.

Indeed, is nothing but a futile attempt to divert the discussion, a massive straw man, it happens when ppl are unable for form valid, logic reasonable, proper and objective arguments about a specific topic so they resort to fallacies, like personal attacks (ad hominem fallacy) or invincible ignorance fallacy (ignore the arguments and dismiss everything by calling it nonsense etc without explaining or giving proper counterargument related to the topic). Zero experience with discussion forums it seems.
