Once playing it a couple times, I'll pickup the game guide out of the bargain bin, just to find the ♥♥♥♥ I couldn't previously...
I really can't see why people rush out to get, and rely entirely on, walkthrough guides for games they've never played...
PLUS.. Better to have one in your hands then to wait and not be able to get one later on!
.... I'd rather PDF or eBook format, so I can open it up on my iPad on the desk next to me while I play. :)
A lot of times, those guides are more than just the walkthrough bit. They include things like build advice for (in F4 terms) what SPECIAL stats are especially-useful, what Perks you will wish you had, and so forth.
I dunno if THIS one does, but, I'd like that stuff at my fingertips if it does.
Or you can let all of the scalpers buy them first so that you can pay the "I SHOULD OF GOTTEN ONE SOONER" price on eBay!
Not necessarily for everyone, though. Again, "there is no One True Way".
I, for one, delight in mechanical systems for games. I love poking and prodding them, finding their strengths and weaknesses. I especially love when I can transplant stuff from one system to another.
So, all that build advice stuff? I would love to sit down with it, and the manual, and a few hours of first-hand play experience, and think it all through, figuring out if I agreed with the advice, disagreed with it, or a mix of both. That, in and of itself, would be enjoyable to me.
If it's not your bag, that's fine. But it is mine. :)
Seriously. I just described that the mechanics interest me for their own sake, and that I would like to take their advice, my thought,s and my experience playing the game for a few hours, and see how it all lines up.
Plus.. guides help you discover things that you never knew were in the game even after you think that you've mastered the game. Like for example i've been playing Fallout 3 since day one of it's release and i'm still discovering new things about the game thanks to the F3 guide.
Now WTF do you care how we spend our money?
