In the Fallout lore, what happened to Canada?

I don't know much about the Fallout lore so I'm wondering, in the Fallout lore, what happened to Canada? And Mexico?

Canada was annexed before the bombs fell so America could stop the Chinese from invading Anchorage Alaska!

When China invaded Alaska, at first USA sent troops through Canada, when the country refused to give access to american troops, they simply annexed it.

For what I understood of Mexico, when the ressources crisis began, USA sent troops in the country to secure the oil shipping while Europe was on full war in Middle East.

I would honestly say America was one of the most powerful forces in the pre-war timeline...

Wouldn't they not nuke Switzerland as they're always neutral?

The Future, that's what happened. The world ran out of resources like oil, coal and iron. This inevitably led to war between the world's superpowers. The main conflict went on between China and America. The Chinese were desperate for recourses, Attacking Alaska. To strengten their position America annexed Canada. After pushing the chinese out of Alaska the chinese launched nukes. Which led to the whole world launching nukes at each other.

Basically what happened is that people did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid ass ♥♥♥♥ leading to the destruction of the whole world.

Conquer means you move in, plundering them of their resources and crushing opposition, but allowing them to exist in some form, even if it's just a petty colony or puppet state.

Annexation literally means erasing that country from the map. On maps after Canada's annexation, it was literally just the United States as a blob, owning the bulk of North America and a vast quanitity of the world's quickly shrinking oil supply.

It's better to be conquered then to be annexed. At least in being conquered, you maintain some form of national sovereignty, even if just barely.

noone knows how bad Europe was hit but europe had torn itself apart before that anyways a few nukes extra probably wasnt something people would notice.
the irony is as the lore is written all that i known is that us/china nuked eacother but not a word on what the others did at that moment perhaps the Euroasian/african/australian regions are fine and well with the exception of china... we just dont know, was bit cloudy to tell last time i looked out the windows from Zeta.

but it would be a hell of an easteregg if you build a large reciver tower and start reciving transmissions from europe and south america. perhaps europe is still at war with eachother or maybe The Zone swallowed them all
