Depends if the dog is good enough to survive a fat man to the face.

lol

Solo. Always play solo :).

Same, honestly. Companions tend to run into my line of fire and unnecessarily attack enemies that are no threat, so I'd rather leave them at home rather than risk them running into a Fat Man shell.

I'll keep the dog around the gas station safehouse, though. He can be my guard dog for when I'm away.
They always ruin my stealth in any and every Bethesda game, I'll probably just make them protect my ingame wife and make her live in the settlement that I built. If they allow you to re-marry or find your husband/wife in this game.

They should 'do' stuff too - I dont know why it didnt bother me in Skyrim, but in F3 they were eerily behind you...it just felt like artificial ai on autofollow.
Reload a gun, check the sights on their weapon, adjust armor or something...blink

Right they should also have mission that you can them send off to or some mode where they're useful other than following you around and stealing kills.

I'm hoping that you can have one animal/robot follower (I.E. The Dog or Codsworth) and one human follower. If not I will just stick with the dog.
I have always hated Companions in Fallout. And in TES games, too. They're too stupid to live, IMO. Also, none of them are good enough at the sneaky-sneaky style of killing to be particularly useful, anyway.
don't like op companions , hope there is someone like red and shorty in F3
I VOTE....... CHARON................. FOR BEST COMPANION

im in my Home in megaton

"i dont like the look of this place" says charon

ohh waat a kidder love his comedy
I hope they give you quests off the back I hate having to find out later that I need to restart the game to get so and so's mission. I don't want the companions to have anything to do with the main quest's story.
Companions are ♥♥♥♥. I always travel the wasteland solo unless there's a companion I really like and I feel goes well with my character, but there never is.

I cant remember how many times my companion went in front of my VATS in FNV ....... and i killed her/him.

I will go solo on first playthrough, and might keep it up on later ones.

I like the feeling of danger and desolation when you explore the place alone, it gives you a reason to keep a torch/light source when you explore the caves because there is no companion(meat shield) to charge ahead .
I'm going to have two companions Dog meat and who ever else I take a liking to.
I always like to go with companions.

For this one I might only take the dog with me... don't know.
Since they said the game will be twice the size of skrim in map size/content I'd imagine that a companion would be useful.

Keep the traveling from getting sad? Ha! I do see your point though. I think what it is for me is that I really miss the lonely survival mood that games like the first 3 silent hill games and resident evil 1-3 had.
