GRIM - The Curse
So I've been thinking about not only getting GRIM, but the little patch that lets me play it alongside Whispering HIlls, because I can't choose between one or the other. They both look really great. My problem is all the terrible things I'm reading about how unstable the GRIM mod is. Specifically from the Aery's Patch homepage that claims to fix the broken parts of the mod. So my question is whether or not GRIM really is as unstable as it's claimed to be, and if yes, will that patch mod fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Didn't you post the same question here 10 hours ago?

Btw idk, I only know of Grim's reputation.
I did, but seeing as it was 10 hours ago I wanted to actually get someone to respond, so I did it again.
Should I just avoid Grim altogether?

Grim is not an unstable mod, it's just recommended that you don't use it if you want to play Main Quests, as it has a lot of scripting that can get in the way of the vanilla game. Now, you can use Grim only as an aesthetic, just don't activate The Curse in his menu. I don't know exactly what you want..

I sorta came here for the curse, the atmosphere is completely optional in my opinion since Whispering Hills already has fog.
Just out of curiosity though, exactly how much does it mess with the main quests?

There's a lot of things which can cause some troubles, for example the patrols which defend you in the night, they script can bring troubles for quests. But if you want to play something like ''FEAR'' lol, just avoid the quests and i think you good to go, Whispering Hills it's like redudant but i don't think you will have problems using Grim. as long you avoid to play the ''normal game''. Sadly i use Grim most for the Aesthetic than for the gameplay experience. Of course you can always play in the way you want. Sometimes problems from others, it's not for us, right?

I was just hoping to add as many horror based monsters to the game as possible, and then to compliment my new horror mods I'll add a mod that changes feral ghoul sounds (of which a lot of these monsters are based off of, at least from whispering hills) to the guy from Spongebob who screams chocolate.

You can disable this patrol with the Ini which come with Grim, just delete and see by yourself.
Oh okay thanks.

1. If you use GRIM, use a mod manager with real profiles and real virtualization (Mod Organizer 2).

2. Set up a separate profile, separate mod load, etc. as facilitated by the above.

3. Use GRIM alone, so you can identify the issues. It's not recommended if you intend to play vanilla quest lines, so basically a lot of wandering, scavenging, killing for no ultimate goal but to survive, so I'd suggest playing it as such.

4. After you've play tested GRIM a bit, then start building you mods around it.

I use Vortex, will that be a problem?

Vortex isn't truly virtual, and I've recently had problems with it NOT completely uninstalling plugins in other games, so I would not recommend it for this, but it is usable. I'm not sure, but there may be a means of converting your set up from Vortex to MO2. Otherwise it's a manual redux. I prefer the manual, clean rebuild method myself though.

I've been using Grim without instability so far, but haven't turned on The Curse yet. Trying to stockpile stuff first.
I forgot I made this discussion. Thanks for telling me though, I'm about to amp up to horror for myself just that little bit more, now.
