Yea, you can't just "trade" with your companion and take off their clothes.
But you can still steal their clothes away from them.

Did that with Cait, just because I figured her corset would look better on me.
*Lel, I had Piper as companion, and just unlocked Cait in the battle zone.
When I stole Cait's outfit...

Piper disliked that...
Cait liked that...

Meanwhile, Cait walking around in her undies.

Yea, you can't just "trade" with your companion and take off their clothes.
But you can still steal their clothes away from them.

Did that with Cait, just because I figured her corset would look better on me.

Well it must have been a bug then. A few days ago I was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around with the armor equipping in the companion trade menu, after trying different combos I was able to take the base clothing off somehow. Put her in a vault suit and now I can't replicate the result.

Was the original ability to do this in a trade window intentionally patched out? It doesn't seem like my game has been patched, but like the original poster I did it once a week ago and can't seem to now.

The other way to do this is give them an "outfit" that uses the whole body slot, equip it on them, then give them a chest piece of armor that forces removal of the outfit.. and voila. "naked".

I force cait to wear a pink dress then I decided to give here some leg and arm guards doing so made her naked.

Jeez i've had no issues swapping clothing, odd how you all want them to fight butt nakid but hey each to your own.

i found out that they will take off their clothes if you order them to wear the dog collar.

i just wanted piper to wear the dog collar, because i like that look. but while it doesn't show her wearing it, she will take off the rest of her clothes.

There is already pretty good nude mods- http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/476/?
It is one of the top mods.
You can steal clothes or you can use console commands for them to take it off.
