look at the top right of the screen it says size that bar represts how much a settlemnt can have in it. you can't have much so no walls just the eccentials and make sure to recycle everything as they take up alot of the space in the size meter.

I was planning on making a grand fort out of The Castle. Was pretty sad when I hit that cap with next to nothing.

I'm upset by the cap too, hope there's a mod which can make it higher or even infinite.

enjoy it. just be careful when using it if you make too much stuff in one area fps will drop and after that ctds will occur. it does seem really stupid you can only make a 2 small house settlement with the basics and there is no way in helll you can make the cool stuff they showed at E3

Also noticed that the actual game is not nearly as clean and easy to use as the E3 demo suggested, and that the camera was different for that demo as well.

- Mods
- Dropping weapons, and storing them whilst In your settlement Interface, then taking them back out again and repeating the process; works better with a lot of weapons.

You don't need mods to increase the cap. Use the weapon drop exploit and you will unlimit capacity.

Get a lot of weaopns.
Store in red workbench
take them back into your inventory
Drop all weapons on the ground
turn on settlement build mode
store items back in workshop
watch capacity bar decrease

Be careful with sticking to much stuff beyond the set limit. The limit is there for a reason. To keep people from adding so much crap (triangles) that your game starts running like piss.

But the castle DOES run out of build space really fast. Only settlement I hit the ceiling in.

Very clever by Sentar. I believe the steps can be reduced to:

- Drop weapons on settlement grounds
- Activate "Build" mode
- Store or Scrap dropped weapons (meter will drop with each action)

All those conduits, lighting fixtures, decorations, crates, etc all apply to the build limit so you start with a fair bit of it used. I suspect that the build limits also relate to how busy neighboring cells are, since it needs to load all the polygons and actors that could be relevant in the area.

Some areas have small budgets (Jamaica Plain comes to mind), some areas have larger (e.g. Spectacle Island lets you build up the most).

See http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_4_console_commands for commands you can use to see/get limits on triangle calls and draw calls.

And note:

Note: The budgets are there for a reason, to keep players from building overly large settlements that could negatively impact performance. Using these commands to ignore the budgets could have consequences.(the first time you use it nothing might happen but as soon as you leave the settlement area you wont be able to access the area again and the game crashes every time you try to get close to your settlement or even fast travel to your settlement.)

I think making this game for consoles also has limited the amount we can build.

I have some settlements where I more then tripled the vanilla building budget and have not run into problems.
