point of the wind generator?
The thing is massive and only produces 3 electricity. And as far as i can tell the other generators don't need oil to function, so what am i missing here? Is it just so i can pretend to be green or is there an actual benefit?

I think it's there for "Immersion".

I wondered the same thing, I guess its an alternative to the loud generators at the expense of space

This and if IIRC, the mats to build it are a lot easier.

It's silent... For someone who spends a long time in settlements, having silent power generation is very nice. Because those noisy generators will make you climb the walls and go crazy from the sound they make.
GM Pax Dec 10, 2015 @ 7:36pm
It also works better, aesthetically speaking, as a roof-mounted thing.

And, I know generator noise is an issue to Settler happiness. t I think the windmill is completely silent. So if you only want power for a Recruitment Beacon and some lights, parking one on the roof of your bunkhouse is possibly more efficient than building a separate building for a generator.

yup. uses fewer mats. also, just looks different. makes less noise. immersive for places like the Castle, where you can put them up on top of high walls facing the ocean.

I like em.

surprised there is not a solar generator type though.

Good point. Viable Mod-making territory, perhaps. 1 or 2 power per panel ...
Bardouv Dec 10, 2015 @ 7:43pm
it's not loud as ♥♥♥♥, looks cool, and doesn't pretend to be a gas engine that doesn't require gas (for those that enjoy immersion)

its just like real wind power less usefull than the other options. but it looks neat
Nite69 Dec 10, 2015 @ 7:46pm
the wind generator will be nice for places like finch farm, up on the bridge above the settlement, but most other settments are too tight a space to use it.

for those that don't know you can build up to it.

What?
Please provide some proof to that,
My setters don't mind the noise, I've tested that on more than one occasion.
They don't even mind stroboscopic light effects at night...

I'm curious to know that too, I have generators near beds and it doesn't hurt happyness that I see anyway.....

Yea sure it would be annoying in real life but it doesn't hurt it the way the game is setup

Well, this *is* a game - but making a solar panel isn't easy or cheap. You need some pretty specilaized equipment and skills. And panels don't last - 30 years tops.

I'm just kind of miffed that you can't stack the wind generators.
