How do I unlock Boston Airport Workbench?

I'm already level 57 and haven't done anything with the main quest, but I just cleared out the Boston Airport and it won't let me use the workbench. Is this tied to a quest? If so, is it a main story quest? No spoilers please.

I've been doing fetch quests for the BoS for a long time. At what point do I get access to this settlement?

I didn't ask where the workbench was. I already found it but it won't let me use it yet.

It is somewhat tied into the main quest, in the sense that after you do a few of them, and event happens with the BOS faction that allows you to do some missions for them, one of which gives access to the Boston Airport workbench.

you have to join the BOS to gain acess. Thats what i did and i gained access to it as a settlement.

Thanks for the information. I tried looking it up on Google, but 90% of the first page topics were all people on Reddit asking where the bench was located and both wiki pages took me to FO3 pages.

I've been holding off doing the main quest until I search the map, but it seems I might have to jump a little into the main quest to grab this settlement.

You're assigned to use it as part of a quest, but I don't think it counts as a conventional settlement.

A side question: At what point do I stop getting fetch quests from those two BoS members? It seems they are limitless like the stupid fluff quests from the settlers.

I swear if that guy at Nordhagen Beach lets his wife get kidnapped one more time I'm just going to execute her on sight so I never have to fetch her again.

i dont think shes getting kidnapped, i think shes running away to get some on the side and when she gets caught shes been kidnapped.
