1. Create a Bell.
2. While in 'settlement edit mode' bring the Bell to where you need to assign a bunch of settlers.
3. Ring the Bell. Settlers will all come to the Bell location.
4. Assign settlers (there is also a mod that allows you to give settlers a name, thus making it easier to organize).
5. Bring the Bell to the next area.
6. Repeat process starting at step 3.
Can't wait for a solid mod to fix this.
Maybe that is what is going on, I assign a few settlers to a few plants (never to all 6 plants), I'll try to assign a few more settlers to at least one plant
Alternatively if mass murder is not your thing, you can just wait or rest until 10AM daytime. Then go around all the farmers and assign them to your scavenging post. Then collect all the crops by pressing tab on them. Each settler can farm 6 food. All plants give 0.5 food, which means you can have 12 except mutfruit which gives 1 food each. A settler can farm 6 of those.
Place down one crop, assign a farmer to it and then place the rest up to 6 food. The farmer will automagically start farming the next plants you put down. Never move plants, collect and replace them because there is a bug.
Not quite right, each settler can work up to six foods worth of plants. So, that'd be 6 Muttfruit that are worth 1 food each, or say 12 Corn that are worth 0.5 food each. Basically, you don't need to worry as free settlers will default to farming, just as cdarklock says.
I think Farming is the only thing they'll auto-assign to though, I still have to manually assign Guards to guard posts and shop keepers to shops etc. It would be nice if, when the player builds something new, a spare settler were automatically assigned, but sadly that's not how it works currently - other than for food.
Scoob.
oooOOOooo;
#4; the mod to name them, what is the name of the mod plz? or direct link to nexus =P im currently work trolling, so ill research it later if you don't get back to me. But I definitely want that mod. Ive got a few of the other small 'quality of life' improvement mods... naming settlers would do Wonders.
and to all of the above, it is true that settlers will auto-farm any plants unclaimed when they join a settlement; which is fine, unless you are min/maxing on Shops within a settlement. Then, you really want to pay attention to who is assigned to what. Otherwise, no need to delegate unless you have Shops, or want specific Bed arrangements.
for example, if you only have 1 untended plant, and a new settler shows up; it will tend that SINGLE plant... which, might be useless... could be better focused on a scavenging table (as scavenging table setters still generate caps via shops.)
