Submachine gun is useless?
Why would I spray away the .45 ammo with the subpar SMG when your all around effective and accurate Combat Rifle uses the same ammo?
And why is there an option to convert the Combat rifle into using .38 ammo but not the SMG?

I wonder why they didn't include a 10 mm submachine gun.

Maybe because you can mod your 10mm pistol to be fully automatic?

just convert your pistol.

By the way put a few point in the Commando perk. I put around 3 into it and the submachine gun pretty much became my indoor sweeper.

A converted 10mm pistol looks weird in my opinion and holds less rounds.

Yeah the .45 SMG is pretty terrible, much unlike the .45 SMG from New Vegas, which was one of the absolute top tier weapons (if you had the right perks).

I can tell you why you don't want to convert the SMG to .38 even if you could -- if it dealt any less damage, it would heal the target :)

Or at least a 10mm Receiver for it, yes. I mean, the 10mm SMG is pretty signature to the series!

...

I have sadly given up on the SMG entirely. There is ALWAYS a better option - the damage stats are just way too low. Hell, 10mm Pistols regularly outdamage SMGs. :steamsad:

.... and I'd have to give it a custom name, "Tickle Me Elmo".

.... and it can't hold a candle to a max-modded Combat Shotgun (muzzle brake, recoil compensating stock, long shielded barrel, advanced receiver, reflex sight, quick-eject drum magazine), with the Rifleman perk. Seriously, 174 damage, fires as fast as I can pull he trigger. O_O

Have you tried putting perks into it? Just wondering.

well im loving the submachine gun for another reason....

RPing as The Shadow. all i need now is to mod that hero costume blacke and get a red scarf plus find a Colt M1911 mod.

The problem is, those perks only bring the SMG up to par with un-Perk'd everything else that shoots.

What about Fallout's very own Silver Shroud?

That whole quest was hilarious.

I used the Silver Shroud's voice all the time, never broke character. Seeing those thugs actually believe and run away at the end was priceless.
