Colombian buyers price exchange rate WRONG!
Today was the awaited change of currency for Colombia and other latin american countries, most of the comunity was happy about that change..... Well not anymore.

In this particular case the game is priced at 59.99 USD which is an equivalent to 184857.39 COP at todays exchange rate but in the store is showing 233000 COP. That means it was cheaper for the user to buy the game while it was priced in a foreign currency. What makes this worse is that the physical copy of the game can be found at only 166000 COP!

I need an answer and i think every latin american needs an answer if this is happening also in the other countries where the currency changed.......

The answer is obviously to just go out and buy the physical copy and the you don't need to worry about whether or not Steam has made a mistake in pricing.

Or you can buy it from another site for 60 dollars, like "humble" or "green man".

The colobian peso is pretty unstable atm, its just likely that the store purchased the physical copies prior to changes in it. Also the digital distribution agreements for different places can mean extra taxes, costs, etc.

I also noticed this for Chile. The price now is more expensive than before. The conversion for the base game from $ 59.99 USD to chilean peso should have been CLP$ 42892.85, but instead is CLP$ 45899 which is $ 64.18 in USD... :steamfacepalm:

unstable as it is the taxtes are applied while buying not on the listed price, that means that if there were taxes for digital transactions in my country (there aren't) it will be even more expensive, also if the stores bought the game before it will be more expensive since the dollar have fallen from 3450cop to 3092 cop recently, anyway im making this post because ist unfair to see games that uses an exhange rate of 2000 cop and other ones like 4000 cop.

And Levi's that are $50 here could be €300 in Germany. What's your point? The game costs what it does in your country. You're not in the "better pricing" country, so the price there is useless to you. Worry about and watch your price and buy when you think the price is rigth for you.

My point is:
The steam platform used USD as money for my country and we payed the games at the exact exchange rate at the moment of buying. SINCE TODAY stam changed that saying that would be better for the user to se how much is actually paying which is not true since the prices doesnt match the exchange rate which make it unfair to the user.

No, it just makes it a different price, like the €300, $50 jeans. Your country's currency is volatile, which is probably why it's upcharged. That or delivery tariffs levied upon the supplier of which you may not even be aware. In any case, this is nothing new, across many industries. Why do I have to pay $12/lb for Columbian coffee? What do you pay per pound in Columbia? See?

I understand that in a scenario where there is shipping and taxes that applies on those transactions, which is not the case here.
I'm pretty sure this will not change the price, but i'm trying to know why where the absurd prices selected and also why happened the change, since I can't find any documentation about it anywhere.

(Going a little bit offtopic, the cofee, you're paying for the brand not the coffee itself im pretty sure if the brand of cofee i use was able to be in your market it'll be tons cheaper compared with the one your market chooses to import. Also if you ever happen to be here and you like coffee try to avoid popular brands of coffee, you'll see that the best ones are usually hidden in little corner stores :) )

Totally agree. I was unbelievably disappointed when I saw the change. For moment there I could not understand what was happening. I wanted to buy Far Cary 4 and it is not available in the Colombian store. Then I wanted to buy Fallout 4 and when I saw the price it was 15 dollars more then for the rest of the world. I do not think this is ethical. I live in Colombia and it is not a G7 country. 233.000 pesos, which USD75 for a game is plain absurd. Why is Steam punishing us I have no idea. Why is it supposed to be smart pricing strategy, I have no idea. The game itself is getting so so reviews. Even in US they say the engine is old, graphics is old, the storyline is tedious and is definitely not worth the 59.99USD they are asking for. But asking 75-80USD from Colombian gamers is just weird. Who advised such pricing? To whom did it occur that this is good business? Disappointed.

Again, why can't I buy Far Cry 4 from Colombia? Luckily it is available on Origin. If Fallout 4 does not come to origin, then no big deal. The pleasure of keeping 80 bucks is much higher than losing them to an outdated game. At some point it will pop up somewhere in Panamericana or San Andresito.

time to hit San Andresito.

Dude, Colombian peso is stable. If it was volatile, it would reflect on other items in this store as well and steam would have never created a separate Store for Colombia. Steam put the price on steroids for this items specifically. Dunno about Levi's and coffee. Luckily Steam does not handle these. My suggestion, forget this Fallout 4. No big deal. The hype is inflated.

I have just checked and a number of other items are not available in the Colombia store anymore. They are probably trying to figure out how much to charge. Well, don't care. The dollar has gone up (volatile) and that's just another incentive to stop wasting money on unnecessary products.
