The steam platform used USD as money for my country and we payed the games at the exact exchange rate at the moment of buying. SINCE TODAY stam changed that saying that would be better for the user to se how much is actually paying which is not true since the prices doesnt match the exchange rate which make it unfair to the user.
I'm pretty sure this will not change the price, but i'm trying to know why where the absurd prices selected and also why happened the change, since I can't find any documentation about it anywhere.
(Going a little bit offtopic, the cofee, you're paying for the brand not the coffee itself im pretty sure if the brand of cofee i use was able to be in your market it'll be tons cheaper compared with the one your market chooses to import. Also if you ever happen to be here and you like coffee try to avoid popular brands of coffee, you'll see that the best ones are usually hidden in little corner stores :) )
Totally agree. I was unbelievably disappointed when I saw the change. For moment there I could not understand what was happening. I wanted to buy Far Cary 4 and it is not available in the Colombian store. Then I wanted to buy Fallout 4 and when I saw the price it was 15 dollars more then for the rest of the world. I do not think this is ethical. I live in Colombia and it is not a G7 country. 233.000 pesos, which USD75 for a game is plain absurd. Why is Steam punishing us I have no idea. Why is it supposed to be smart pricing strategy, I have no idea. The game itself is getting so so reviews. Even in US they say the engine is old, graphics is old, the storyline is tedious and is definitely not worth the 59.99USD they are asking for. But asking 75-80USD from Colombian gamers is just weird. Who advised such pricing? To whom did it occur that this is good business? Disappointed.
Again, why can't I buy Far Cry 4 from Colombia? Luckily it is available on Origin. If Fallout 4 does not come to origin, then no big deal. The pleasure of keeping 80 bucks is much higher than losing them to an outdated game. At some point it will pop up somewhere in Panamericana or San Andresito.
time to hit San Andresito.
No, it just makes it a different price, like the €300, $50 jeans. Your country's currency is volatile, which is probably why it's upcharged. That or delivery tariffs levied upon the supplier of which you may not even be aware. In any case, this is nothing new, across many industries. Why do I have to pay $12/lb for Columbian coffee? What do you pay per pound in Columbia? See? [/quote]
Dude, Colombian peso is stable. If it was volatile, it would reflect on other items in this store as well and steam would have never created a separate Store for Colombia. Steam put the price on steroids for this items specifically. Dunno about Levi's and coffee. Luckily Steam does not handle these. My suggestion, forget this Fallout 4. No big deal. The hype is inflated.
I have just checked and a number of other items are not available in the Colombia store anymore. They are probably trying to figure out how much to charge. Well, don't care. The dollar has gone up (volatile) and that's just another incentive to stop wasting money on unnecessary products.
