Building in Home Plate
If I want to make a lot of improvements do my companion and I have to haul stuff in? If I buy supply's in Diamond City which workbench would they go to or do I just carry them over to Home plate?

Homeplate has its own workbench that is exclusive to it. It does not share Junk/resources with the market benches. There's plenty of junk inside Homeplate to get you started, but if you're going to do extensive upgrading, you'll need to haul stuff in unless you use a mod that links it to your supply lines.

Sadly yes you have to take everything you need to Home Plate, since Bethesda never thought to let you hook a provisioner from another settlement up.

I do know there is a mod that puts an invisible link between Home Plate and Hangmans's Alley. That way you can link it to all your other settlements. Otherwise, you have to carry everything into Home Plate your self.

(Home Plate is a player home, not a settlement. That is why you can't link it, and its also why the things you can build inside it are limited. You don't have the full build list options you have in a settlement.)

I use the mod ''Home plate underground Bunker '' For Home Plate . Lately I've been using it
for a home base for all my ''stuff '' . Although you have to fix up the entrance a bit 'cause it's a bit restrictive . It's basically a bloody great ''abyss '' , if you can cut Diamond City into pieces , you you probably drop the entire city down there .

I've used this one

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/60661

It incorporates all three 'should have been more functional' locations: home plate, boston airport, and mechanist lair.

I'm using Home Plate for a small location with kids (since I also use orphans of the commonwealth) and put food/water and happy things in it in addition to their school desk 'work stations'. I didn't load a provisioner for it though, but it would work if I needed to.
