(Home Plate is a player home, not a settlement. That is why you can't link it, and its also why the things you can build inside it are limited. You don't have the full build list options you have in a settlement.)
for a home base for all my ''stuff '' . Although you have to fix up the entrance a bit 'cause it's a bit restrictive . It's basically a bloody great ''abyss '' , if you can cut Diamond City into pieces , you you probably drop the entire city down there .

It incorporates all three 'should have been more functional' locations: home plate, boston airport, and mechanist lair.
I'm using Home Plate for a small location with kids (since I also use orphans of the commonwealth) and put food/water and happy things in it in addition to their school desk 'work stations'. I didn't load a provisioner for it though, but it would work if I needed to.
