I have cleared out all the raiders and found the door to go deeper but it needs a key I don't have. I've searched all the bodies but can't find a key. What did I miss?

A side path to the left side as you go in, about 3/4 of the way through. Takes you around to the back of that door, where a corpse has the key on it.

All it is is a shortcut to the end, kinda pointless after youve gone through the whole thing to get there.

btw, the key for that door is just on the other side of that door

As other have said you have not gone far enough in the tunnels. Keep searching for paths you have not explored and keep going deeper in the mine. Eventually you will start going back up and reach that door on the other side. That is when you find the key.

Just of note, read the terminals as you decend and when you get to the bottom some of the people in the messages will try to help you find a secret. :)

It's a quicker way out, not a shortcut to skip to the end...

time to ressurect the dead, rather puny given the dungeon in question
I too have fully explored inside the mining area, found bobblehead, leg knife, searched youtube/guides/walkthroughs, and yet the body that has the master key is missing from the top of the stairs, there is a nice black spot on the ground where he died, but no body...

yes i know i can walk my happy gilmore a$$ back out the way i came in but it bugs me not to have the body that has the key so i can unlock my door so i can complete the exploration, its like playing D&D and finding everything but the boss because hes locked behind that one hidden passageway that your search skill just isnt high enough to locate, or finding his treasure room after you defeat him....

Actually in fallout universe its the opposite. The light just makes it easier for THEM to see you.
