It's literally the same version, so no there would not be any performance change.

The GOG version feels better to me, somewhat smoother. Being able to run the game without a client at all is very nice as well. Now I'm down to only one game keeping me tied to Steam ... but it will be two again shortly.

These guys (and Google) have been EXTREMELY helpful in walking me through tweaking this game and the one thing i would suggest would be to (literally) remove that huge texture pack that comes with the game as in just have steam make it go away and use mods from here. There are small apps as well as .ini tweaks that make this game a little better and you can use your video card's in-house software to monitor the FPS while doing it. I went from a LOW 50's FPS to a HIGH 90s FPS and my load times increased dramatically AFTER i realized there are just a few things you can't improve on vs all the things you can. I've never seen a "better" version of this game but trimming the fat would probably help.

There is one curiosity i've had about this game. The X-Box (Series X) people. If there is one around, how does that magical load speed you have affect loading this particular game? I've seen XBx load some games INSANELY fast, especially that thing that brings you back into a game where you left off after powering off and back on again.

Anyone?

The console has no huge bloated texture packs for one thing.

Yes. If you buy the GoG version you get to parade around the forums and brag about how GoG actually fixes their games and makes sure they work before they sell them and why won't Bethesda do that.

Oh wait. I thought I was on the Fallout 3 board /s.

I could not run Banished in Steam. Bought it off GOG and its perfect. Maybe the same will work if GOG would let customers try it first.

That's odd. Mine does work fine but I'm still on windows 7 (until I figure out how to dual boot 10). It might be more modern os issue there.
