Subway Tokens and Book Return Tokens

Do they have any use? Been collecting them but never needed to use subway tokens and the book return tokens can be used in those book return machines for rewards BUT so far the best reward I ever saw was a science magazine. One other machine had some frag grenades in stock, other than that, its just junk items or cheap comsumables.

The book return tokens yeah but nothing for the subway tokens as far as I know.

The wiki says that the protectrons in the subway system will turn hostile unless you give them one but maybe I've never even seen that behavior because I've almost always had one on me and I dunno, they never ASK for them but maybe they're tagged to see you HAVE one.

The book return tokens can be used to get one of the skill books. The library has two book return machines, and the one outside the big room that has the door to the computer room where the intelligence bobblehead is will give you one of the Massachusetts Surgical Journals for fifty tokens.

I've never found any use for subway tokens.

Subway tokens only seem to have a use for protectrons using the "Subway steward" personality. Supposed they will ask you for a subway token, and if you fail to give them one they turn hostile.

I don't know why this is a thing, there is literally no benefit. Doubly so since, to my knowledge, no protectrons have this personality by default.

if i remember reading and in fallout 3 subway tokens are used to activate secuitron protectrons (like in fallout 3 again to restate)

but in 4 for whatever reason (no we all know why lol) they never made it a thing 100%


library tokens are good to return books get them then turn them in for the skill book and other stuff at the book return depositories. I actually wish that undamaged unreturned books would've been a thing. So it would've helped to look through all the burnt books for the chance at 1 undamaged book you could turn in.

They don't have a lot of use apart from getting that one medical journal magazine from the Boston library, but they don't have any measurable weight so I always grab them anyway.

There's one in a pod in Malden Centre (the subway where you have a Railroad mission involving Glory).
