Game suddenly crashing while loading save
So I was playing last night, and it was working fine. Today, I tried to load my game, and it suddenly crashes about 15-20 seconds into loading the save. What is the issue?

Using any mods?
Does an older Save load properly?

i am having alot of issues and i am poking around trying to find solutions and unfortunatly i havent quite succeded yet, but one thing that i did find out, is that if you use the beta patch, your fallout4custom.ini will likly be the problem of your crash.. if you delete it, it will likly load your save.. the problem is though that will mean you have to troubleshoot to find out the next part of the puzzle and find out why.. good luck, hope it helps

Deleting my ini files did the trick, though I can't use some of my mods now as they no longer work. When I did this...

... the crashes started again.

I kept crashing when trying to load my most recent save after the patch yesterday, I had to load a save from before that one then load the most current save.

i think i found the answer (its very late here, so the testing has been minimal i am afraid, but it DOES load) you must retain ONE of the lines.. so here is what i have

[Archive]
sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MESHES\, INTERFACE\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

put that in your fallout4custom.ini file...then try again with the mods... so far it seems to be working for me, let me know how it goes.. i need to get some sleep, its 3 am now :p
allso, make sure your load order is right, under the mods section inside the mainmenu.

Tried loading an older save and it immediately crashed. Verified the files, and I'm still having this issue. Deleting the ini files did absolutely nothing.

Had a similar set of conditions, ended up being an issue with Homemaker and SnapnBuild, if you use either try loading a save with both disabled and see if it works with the "strings" removed as it seriously increases load time.
I posted a fix which should resolve it

I don't have either of those mods.

It was one of my mods. I disabled them all and my save loaded, so now I gotta go through and enable them a few at a time to see which one it was.

Better Settlers was the culprit. Game loads now, odd thing is it occasionally crashes while reloading if I die.

OK, this is B U L L S H I T. The game was working fine, I died, it reloaded and crashed, and now it's crashing every time I load the save again.

i am guessing your mods loadorder is getting reset. check from within the games mod menu...

disabling or uninstalling mods does not always work! i am not an excperienced modder, so cant help to much. but if you search the forum or google i am sure there is a detailed post on how to properly uninstall mods.
maybe start there!

Should i just delete everything in the fallout 4 folder and verify integrity of game cache?
Seagullbreeder Aug 11, 2016 @ 1:26pm
it could be cause i recently begun adding mods manually?
