Far Harbor - Hunting the Hunter question

Quick question, is the courser that you are supposed to hunt meant to be friendly?

He actually says to me that it is an honor to meet me and to report any suspicious synth activity to the SRB. The problem with this is that I have not teleported to the Institute on this playthrough which makes this quest considerably easier since I just need one decent sneak attack shot to kill him.

Dont know, Never could get that quest to start. If you dont mind me asking how did you get it to start? or did it just happen?

Well when I found him he was decimating trappers, I'm not sure if he attacked me after I shot him or he was just hostile and didn't see me. In this playthough I had already blew up the institute(getting the quest makes no sense) so it would make sense for any loyal synths left to be hostile.

The quest started fine for me; it begins right after you find Virgil in the Glowing Sea. When I found him he asked me if I was here for the synth so he wasn't immediately hostile but when I said no he then attacked.

You need to complete the Hunter/Hunted main quest.
