That's about how many rounds of that ammo I ended up with in FONV too
I have a feeling it's missing from the loot lists.
The higher levels of the Scrounger perk (before it was fixed by the unofficial patch), were completely missing shotgun shells and other ammo
Totally agree.
The only places you get decent amounts of .45-70 ammo are the merchants in Far Harbor (and Acaida and the Nucleus if they are still around), so stock up before leaving.
Seems like regular merchants should start stocking the new ammo when you return. That's how it worked with the New Vegas DLC, for example. Seems like an oversight if they don't here.
Sure, the base is 37 for ht HR and 35 for the LAR ... but it's that "fully modded" that really counts.
.308 Hunting Rifle, with:
- Calibrated Powerful Receiver
- Long Ported Barrel
- Marksman's Stock
- Large Quick Magazine
- (Any) Long Scope
- Suppressor
... has Damage (55) / Rate of Fire (3), Range (185), Accuracy (112) and weighs (18.1, or 18.4 with a Large Recon scope).50 Hunting Rifle, with:
- .50 Receiver
- Long Ported Barrel
- Marksman's Stock
- Large Quick Magazine
- (Any) Long Scope
- Suppressor
... has Damage (64) / Rate of Fire (4), Range (185), Accuracy (111) and weighs (18.7, or 19.0 with a Large Recon scope).308 Combat Rifle, with:
- .308 Receiver
- Long Ported Barrel
- Recoil CompensatingStock
- Large Quick Magazine
- (Any) Long Scope
- Suppressor
... has Damage (57) / Rate of Fire (33), Range (189), Accuracy (74) and weighs (18.8, or 19.1 with a Large Recon scope)Lever Action Rifle, with:
- Advanced Receiver
- Long Ported Barrel
- Marksman's Stock
- (Any) Long Scope
- Suppressor
... has Damage (134) / Rate of Fire (6), Range (176), Accuracy (110) and weighs (15.7, or 16.0 with a Large Recon scope)Let's put that up in a single block, shall we?
... : HR // HR+ // CR // LAR
Damge : 55 // 64 // 57 // 134
RoF : 3 // 4 // 33 // 6
Range : 185 // 185 // 189 // 176
Acc : 112 // 111 // 74 // 110
Lbs. : 18.1 // 18.7 // 18.8 // 15.7
Ammo : 10 // 10 // 40 // 5
CONCLUSION:
The lever action rifle loses some range (9 or 13), has less ammo capacity, and loses a tiny sliver of accuracy (1 or 2) against it's best competitors in each category.
But it weighs less (averaging just shy of three pounds lighter), and does better than double the per-shot damage of any of the other three.
It's rate of fire is 50% to 100% better than either Hunting Rifle (the CR's rate of fire cannot be competed with).
...
Overall, for sniping? LEVER ACTION, all the way. Especially against enemies with high resistances. The maths for that are way mor ecomplex than I want to dive into now, but suffice to say: the LAR rifle will still be doing as much damage, against a Resistance of 60-ish, as the other three will be doing against completely unarmored targets.
Without mods all the DLC stuff is confined to the DLC area.
I use this one: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13900/?
And that .50 receiver you have is from a mod - I stuck to official-only options for all four rifles. :)
