someone explain how to wire a powered door on both sides
so i see all these videos on how to set up opening and closing a powered door from both sides but none of them are setup in an actual building. I can setup either the logic gate method or the delayed off method but im trying to actually use them in a building with 4 walls and a roof. So i have power coing through a wall to power the inside machinery and lights and power going to the outside switch to open the door in the first place. ive wasted about an hour trying to do something you think bethesda would have made it easy to do...you know CLOSE a door from the inside...argh

isn't there a 'through walls' pylon you can use to simplify things?

Can you use a power switch to turn off the power of the door or turn it on. So one side would have the actual door switch while the other side would have a switch to turn the power to the door on and off? I honestly don't know if that would work truthfully.

that came with a workshop DLC didn't it? that said they could also do the through walls glitch, where you highlight a wire, move a reticle to a object it's connected to but make sure it still has the wire highlighted, press space, then connect it to any object needing the wire. It's a great way to make wires go through walls and such.

Edit: On second look i might of misunderstood the question a bit..i won't delete my comment because it's still useful information, though it might be the wrong advice for your situation. You're wanting some sort of logic gate setup where you can open and close a gate from either side right? I think i saw a youtuber by the name oxhorn do something similar with a green house in one of his builds.

You can also build a floor mat or similar small floor decoration, build a pylon onto that, attach a wire then move the mat.
The pylon will remain connected to the wire even through walls and the pylon will remain anchored to the mat so you can move it to the other side of a wall.

Unless I'm getting confused in my head, it sounds pretty straight forward.

Here is a 'diagram' to show what to use and how to connect. The arrows are wires.

Power source ----> Switch 1 ----> Conduit Through wall ----> Switch 2 (inside) ----> Door

Switch 2 starts on. Switch 1 starts off. The door is thus closed.
You then (from outside) turn on Switch 1 and the door opens.
When you go inside, if you turn off Swtich 2 the door will close.
Turning switch 2 back on will of course open the door again.

Edit: Maybe the conduit's are part of a DLC. If you don't have it, look up how to glitch/exploit a wire through a wall.

Here is my current setup. I run my settlements off of 1 main power grid.

Power source -> lots of connectors- >turrets, spotlights, lights
A seperate path from power source -> tower and connector to water pump
A seperate path from power source-> Tower and different connector to switch then door
I then have a splitoff where it goes from the tower to the thru wall connector-> to a connector to inside switch. Ill take a screenshot because its hard to describe.

Basically I want 2 switches on the inside. 1. to control the lights 2. to control door from inside.

Use an .... XOR LOGIC GATE.

See if this setup works for your needs, see screenshot below.

Power Source --> Switch #1
|---> Switch #2

Switch #1 --> XOR input
Switch #2 --> XOR input

XOR output --> Door

Play with the switches and cylcle them on/off and pretend one switch is on the other side of door. Should work just fine.
