NPC's getting stuck below foundation, is there a mod fix for this???

my mercer safe house is built up high at Coastal Cottage

The caretaker was caught in the ground block here and I had to remove the floor and foundation and put a staircase down to him and sit and wait for him to exit the hole

lower road area, you can see my ramps to go up to the main area

This has been happening since day 1 original game purchase 2015, the NPC's, caravan traders, settlers, the caretaker they all get stuck below the floor in the foundation block

Is there a mod to keep NPC's from fallen below the ground?

Nope. This is a pretty stock engine issue for this game.

The settlers and npcs spawn 'somewhere above the ground' when you load the cell that they're supposed to populate, which is why sometimes you'll find brahmin on the roof or falling out of the sky.

If the area you're putting things on has been modified at all, the game just doesn't really know what to do with it. They will still count toward whatever numbers you have need for if they're settlers - as long as they show green as doing their function, they're actually doing it.

If you sleep a little or come back by walking, generally they should reappear in their spots, but again if you've modified or build anything, all that goes out the window. With that much stuff built over the ground, they are being spawned inside those blocks, because the game doesn't actually know they're there.

I have tried everything with this issue. At one point I tried layering my settlement with the invisible navmesh blocks.

You also have to consider you kinda caused it, lol. When a settlement loads it loads certain items in certain orders. So if the NPCs load before the floors do....you get the idea. So some of it comes from overbuilding, and wlel you are definitely WAY over budget.

I have found smaller settlements of 20-30 to be far more stable and you see less issues like that.

Now the find funny thing is that sometimes you can place a stair inside a floor using Place Everywhere and the mob can sometimes climb out. This is because a navmesh for stairs usually starts an animation and animations ignore physics.

I have Hozsa navmesh fixer mod and use it's blocks and staircase mesh pieces to fix NPC's path finding issue

I placed a pink square navmesh on the block area where the caretaker got stuck after I got him out of the hole

Hozsa mods are at Bethesda site now only

Owe I sometimes don't use the foundation blocks and just let them find there own way out, some mods now have wall's that slide open to get through them, Ethreon's castle in the sky has wall doors and so does Snappy HouseKit by robboten mod

At the The Slog it;s funny seeing the caravan guards heads sticking out of the ground, because there are invisible ground sitting markers at the caravan spot there

I'm yet to see if 5like Thematic and Practical - Workshop Settlements - Structures and Furnitures also known for Caravan Trading Post - Enhanced mod if the caravan individual stands well work at the slog?

I doubt that it is a navmesh issue but may be a cpu load issue. I have used the same settlement mod in two different games. In the heavy load game npc's fall through 1 floor piece wherever it is placed. In the light load game the piece works fine. The piece is a wood foundation.

I fixed this by placing a brick floor where the faulty piece was and pushing it down so it was just under the faulty piece.

Another possibility is that the game is picking up the terrain below the piece and not the block. But I think it is load issue.

It is a load issue. Using Sim Settlements with foundations under your plots tell you that. I always put 3 garden 2x2 plots at the 0,0 behind the house where the AI dumps all the settlers. Some of them still fall through both navmeshes.

I think most of what I used out of that mod was the bunk beds because they were two separate beds so there was no assignment issues with them. Also had a bunch of nifty beds in it.

So you need a mod to fix a mod that is screwed up, good luck with that.

You obviously did not actually read the topic. It is a engine limitation that cannot be fixed by a mod.

I read it just fine apparently you did not as he asked for a mod not info on the engine. I respond to the OP not to random posters, except in this case.

We pointed out the problem is a VANILLA ENGINE ISSUE when a person overbuilds in a settlement. It is NOT caused by a mod as you claimed it was, which clearly shows you did NOT read the actual conversation.

If you are claiming I am a random poster in this community, that makes you the random poster. I been here helping people for almost seven years now.

I hope karma bites you in the ass and you need help with issues in the future because you will not receive help from this "random poster."

people with 0 steam level are just trolls looking for attention online, they are on gaming forums, social networks, everywhere, they have no life and nothing better to do then try to cause trouble and be attention seekers and trolls

Old Ben has no steam level, so is obviously here for trouble

You are talking about yourself, because you have a Zero "0" steam level. Mine is 14 and have been here on Steam for 10 years.......enjoy your lie. Unless it shows zero when off-line, which might be for both of us......

No worries, I would never need help from you, my first computer was in 1977, doubt if you were ever born yet. I have helped so many in the past ten years on Steam I don't need you on my list since you know it all.... in fact I'll just add you to my black list, don't need your advice.

And in over 3 play throughs, I've only had NPCs fall through/into the ground a couple of times, so yes it is related to his mods.

You really got to love that "I am older than you" brahminshit.
Followed by "I been here forever and do not need help from anyone." Which hate to break it to you EVERYONE needs help with something at some point.

Ignored by someone:
- Who assumes they are older
- Does not actually read a discussion before commenting (kinda important in help topics)
- Cannot take any sort of criticism after saying something wrong.
- Zero responsibility taken for a mistake that was made.
- Posts argumentative posts in a help topic WITHOUT offering any actual possible solution.

Whatever will I do? Oh right, wait a few days and another person with the same attitude will take your place. Personally I will stick with going against the current and actually spend my time helping people.

Does my name like translate to "blame me" or something? I keep tripping over people like him and EVERYONE always blames me for starting it, lol.
