Don't care about deep RPG elements and choices. Let me play with my friends. I also enjoy looting, exploring, and building which the game had to offer. Plus when it first launched with no NPCs, the players were the NPCs and it was great. So many fun/funny encounters with random people. The community was great.
Sadly people didn't know how to play in a sandbox and wanted the themepark :(
You're in the Fallout 4 section.
Fallout 4 is the game that most of us will like, since we hang out here more than other sections.
Fallout 76? I don't play MMO games. Sounds like a way to get framed and banned.
When I played 76 soon after release the communication was so bad. If you didn't use something like discord the in game system was just terrible. You can only convey so much with emotes.
I would say that depends on what time in my life you asked me. When I first played the original Fallout the hidden time limit killed it for me. I have since gone back since to play it, the story is good if you keep in mind certain things have to happen in a certain time frame. That being said up to the fail point because I was lost exploring the world I really liked it. At that time if you asked I would of said it was my favorite game just because it was so different from all the other games available. The only similar one at the time being Wasteland which I had only played a few hours of.
When Fallout 2 was released it quickly took over my gaming life (I am sure my parent said my life in general). The ability to travel around the map in a vehicle choosing the route you wanted to take was great. All the little pop culture Easter eggs where a fun addition to stumble over. The combat was outlandishly bloody, plus the target system combined with the better developed SPECIAL and perk system really added to it.
When Fallout 3 came out I got into it as well. The way Bethesda was able to port the world into a 3D shooter was very interesting to me. The main story line was actually pretty decent which is one of the things Bethesda struggles with in my opinion. The DLCs added a fair amount of play to the game with some interesting paths to follow.
I also obsessively played FO:NV liking how Obsidian had tried to take some of the systems back to be more similar to Fallout 2. Plus the multiple factions felt sufficiently different to keep my interest. There was also a decent numbers of way to build your character with out one feeling that it was the over powered chose.
I have probably played Fallout 4 the most. The way the mod community has expanded it is crazy. If you didn't know there is actually solid mods being developed for Fallout 4 that are a version of every game that has come before it. If those in fact do come to fruition then hands down Fallout 4 would be the choice, since you can play the story of each game in it.
I suppose 2 got boring in the end. Nothing to do except hunt Enclave troops and stock up on gauss rifle ammo. At least there was no level cap.
Theres a lot I haven't done in 3. Finished Mothership Zeta and jumped into NV. Lots of areas I haven't explored in 3 and NV.
4 was better on survival 2nd playthrough. Still, the games on hold right before Nuka World as I'm revisiting Skyrim 2nd playthrough. Hoping to revisit and focus on exploration after the Grand Tour.
NV had my favorite story and RPG mechanics but it's not enough to carry it over 4 for me.
FO3 was my first Fallout and it will always hold a special place in my heart, but there is a reason why FO4 is my most played game on Steam. Imo it has the best gameplay and map, player freedom, crafting/building options and no level cap.
second is 3 but i dont remember how long i played it
I dont like x-raying drawers to immediately know all their contents...but outside of that, great game.
3 and NV - I got fond memories of the quests but I dont remember laughing as often as in FO4 or feeling depressed in desolate environments...FO3 did that very well, but it was the first 3d experience so I would account a bit to that fact too. (Stalker came close to that and topped it in certain areas...but, yeah, good luck getting that to run again)
Now I am waiting for remakes/mods of 1 and 2...simply because those games (or is FO2 easier?) are hard as nails and I hate getting killed in random encounters over and over again.
Still not sure if I want to take a look at 76...all this online MMORPG stuff usually isn´t my cup of tea but it sure looks nice.
