emogene cabot locked in room in cabot house?

just went and freed emogene from brother thomas. when he unlocked the door to his room emogene wasn't even there, and now it's saying she's in cabot house behind one of the locked doors. i've done this quest a couple times in the past and this has never happened before. any work arounds?

yes, only because it's the buggiest quest in the game and it bugs out on me every time lol.

Emogene isn't in the room that Thomas unlocks, type these commands into the console to spawn her in that room. Hit enter after each line.

she should spawn inside that room at the ampitheater, sitting in that chair in the room. she should stand up right away and you should be able to talk to her to move forward in that quest

I believe the Fallout 4 Unofficial Patch fixes that. Highly inadvisable to use console commands to advance quests. Think of them as 'ripples in a pond'. They can cause issues with the game further down the road.

The console sequence posted by aaron works but using the f4up is the much smoother and safer solution, not only for this bug.

Or if you shakedown Edward for more caps in the first encounter with him at whatever town he accosts you at. Or if you sneeze, Fart, or look askew at anyone or anything. It's a buggy quest. I still have See Jack Cabot in my log and he is still at the Assylum. No I don't want the lame as Gamma gun. I want the quest gone.

Depends on how you use them. In this case you'd just be fixing the game.

It can also completely bork your game. Perhaps not right away, but scripts can get totally messed up. While console commands may work for the *moment*, it can cause issues down the road in the game.

i've only used TLC or whatever many years ago coz i wanted to explore all the high buildings lol but never anything further than that. what sort of issues can it cause??

the solution that aaron posted is what you need. you will know if you will need to do it when after you initially speak with brother thomas the first time, you do not see a quest marker appear where the room is. i've found it's better to do this quest as soon as it is available, around level 20 or so. after that, it has a high probability of being bugged.

on another note, i've also had another bug with this quest of Jack being unable to pass a certain point in front of the door he needs to unlock after going through the asylum

Missing triggers. The whole map is full of triggers, if you step on them, well, they trigger something. If you tcl over them --> hours later, you break your game

always do a save before doing console stuff. and i don't mean a quicksave or an exit save. i mean a hard save. then do whatever you need in the console and if you bork it, reload back to your save and presto. it's like it never happened.
