Where should i go?
So, i don't know much about the game. Should i go to Diamond City, or keep with the Preston or Brotherhood of Steel?

DC leads to the main quest, you'll need to get that done sooner or later anyway

You have to go to Diamond City in order to progress the main plot. The BoS questline won't advance otherwise either.

Assuming you're not playing on one of the higher difficulties, the game's pretty free form. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?

Wait, the Minutemans and the brotherhood of steel is like I don't know, the Companions and Dark brotherhood in Skyrim, right? And Diamond City would be ''Whiterun'' ?? If so, I think I'll spend a little longer doing Preston quests so I'm going to Diamond town and before finish the main quest I follow the Brotherhood of Steel. Just one question, are the quests repetitive and unnecessary or is there a good lore behind it? (About Minutemans and Brotherhood)

Obs: Sorry for my english, i'm trying lol

Mostly repetitive. I wouldn't compare these factions to Skyrim's really. They're quite different. You could completely ignore the Dark Brotherhood and the Companions and still finish Skyrim; you can't really do that in Fallout 4. Your English is quite good by the way.

New Vegas.

you should go to Cambridge police station and recruit Dance. The first BOS quest gets you a pretty decent legendary weapon.

Depends on the quests. The factions all have some repetitive quests (usually those that have to do with settlements, with the Brotherhood its usually shaking them down, with the Minutemen its helping them), but there are some interesting sidequests too. You just have to talk to people.

its an open world non linear game do whatever you want whenever you want

Diamond City has one thing you can't get anywhere else. A base where settlers don't steal your stuff, any settlement will at some point. Use it like a warehouse for all the settlements you'll build up later, or ignore if you don't like building settlements (some don't).
Besides that, some of your plot missions require going there and it has a lot of side missions.

I suggest getting Preston and his gang established at Sanctuary - you don't have to build it up after you've put in the bare necessities if you're not really into settlement building. Preston is very useful (at least in the early stages) for sending you to help or establish new settlement locations (decent XP, loot, etc). After you're done with exploring Concord, venture a bit further south and you'll eventually pick up a radio signal from Cambridge Police station to go help them out. You can then do some preliminary stuff with the Brotherhood of Steel.

As others have said, Diamond City is where you need to go at some point for the main questline (ie looking for your son! lol) but you can put that off for as long as you want if you just want to explore a bit. Also it's only when you get to Diamond City that the third (Railroad) faction becomes available so you may want to experience that a bit too.

There's no rush to get to diamond city. Do whatever you feel like.

The only thing joining Preston can interfere with long-term is if you've got the Nuka World DLC and intend to get the most out of the evil part of the storyline. Slight spoilers:

If you haven't joined Preston already, you'll be able to side with the gangs to get all the cool raider stuff and then destroy them, and Preston will be okay with your change of heart.

But if you've already joined him, he'll see working with the raider gangs as you betraying his trust, and you'll permanently lose him as a companion choice, even if you destroy the gangs.

Hi guys, thanks a lot for the tips. I currently have no idea what I'm doing in the game (and I even forgot that I have a kid to rescue). Honestly, I'm exploring the surrounding area a lot and avoiding the ''Cities'' as much as possible for now, I've done a few more missions from Preston and I've also agreed to help the Brotherhood of Steel (the weapon Paladine Danse gave me is pretty cool, by the way) . Ah, I also met a supermuter that is after a milk lol. This game has a really cool atmosphere, and I'm venturing on my own because I'm afraid the dog will die (it's a trauma) and I don't know, I've always been a lone wolf. I forgot how good it is to know a game you've never played and have to learn about it. So I'm kind of just ''trying to survive'' for now. After I get tired of exploring, which will take a while since I really enjoyed the game, I start to worry about the main quest. By the way, I focused my points mostly on Agility and Haste, as I had the intention of making a ''Stealth'' character, but for some reason whether it's lack of perks or equipment, the stealth of this game doesn't cooperate much with me so I always end up my combat shooting to all sides. Sadly i don't have the dlcs ( get the game some months ago with what's left in the wallet). Anyway, If you have more tips, it would be really cool. I tend to avoid in-game videos and tutorials, but basic stuff for a complete noob like me is always welcome.
