Any badges related to that pistols will help. I know there is gunslinger but I do not remember if there is anything else. Check. Do get gun slinger.
Pick a pistol that you like or has good stats. I canot think of anything off the top of my head. There is that one from the railroad, and then kellogs pistol that I can think of.
Get a scope since you will be doing long range. Upgrade the receiver (for a sniper you may want higher damage and less rof - but it is up to taste), get the longest barrel you can. Get the best stock you can. I don't remember what other mods can help off the top of my head, but check.
Doing a luck/vats/critical hit build can help. Just do vats and then do some critical hit banking to 1hk everything I guess.

It suffers a bit, though, since the pistols with a full set of mod part slots tend to be the ones you can freely swap between pistol/rifle status anyway (like the pipe gun or laser gun), rather than the dedicated pistols. Pistols tend to get the short end of the stick gun barrel in this game
pop.
gun wise to snipe all you really need is high damage per shot. i would recommend a .303 pipe rifle or hunting rifle though.
I need to see if a plasma sniper pistol is more accurate than the disappointing laser...
You can't put a suppressor on it though, which might be a factor. Can you put a scope on the Western Revolver like you can on the .44?
Yes on the scope. And true about the no suppressor.
In one run, I have a explosive Western Revolver and that thing is a beast in pure one shot damage. Not seen very many legendary Western Revolvers drop and the explosive one is the best one I have had drop.
But I watched a video of a player using a two shot Western Revolver with a scope on it for sniping and he was kicking ass with it.
