Tucker memorial bridge
Is there a reason someone rigged this thing to go boom? I don't get if its a reference or what, but I can't find any answers.

Well it is the bridge your provisoners will cross...

Is there a reason why there are mannquins with machetes (and a plunger) surrounding a corpse in the concord speakeasy?

No, seriously, is there a reason?

Sometimes the level design is just art for art's sake.

Things that go boom are fun and this one is a big boom

It's fun to disarm all the mines, then blow up the bridge yourself with your sniper rifle.

It was odd to see such an insignificant bridge so over the top booby-trapped.
But as Bored Peon pointed out, it is used by your provisioners as a pathway.
Instead of raiders or gunners guarding it and demanding a toll to cross it, I suspect one or the other rigged it just to complicate things.
It can be a challenge to disarm all the traps and one missed can be sadly, very costly.

I mean its never been difficult to disarm and you can just shoot the gasoline to set everything off at a safe distance, but I just never understood why. Its hard to loot supplies when the bodies and the loot have been blown apart and scorched, they don't seem too opposed to standing around and sticking up whoever either.

Honestly no too sure, I found it pretty weird, might've been the druggy living there?

It most likely was some cruel "prank" some wasteland psycho left behind. Wasteland is full of crazies that don't operate in any logical manner.

There doesn't have to be any complex or logical reasoning someone just wanted to ♥♥♥♥ someone's day up out of pure malice or just did it because they can.

The obsticle course in the parking lot probably was similar deal tho at least the prankster left a reward at the end of it.

Stuff around fallout universes are just there for no specific reasons.
The plungers all over the place
the manequins
the teddy bears
hell even the skeletons don't make sense at times and are more art than anything.

That being said some of the areas are based on irl places. They just add random stuff to make it more interesting. As people have said it's a main provisioner area so having to disarm it constantly is a chore / hassle.

I started playing classic Fallout games recently and the amount of unexplained and goofy things that are just there makes me feel like my character went completely nuts and just hallucinates ♥♥♥♥.

Meeting herd of talking brahmin might be the solid proof of that..

Actually the person most likely to die from it isn't a provisioner, it's the settler you can rescue under attack by molerats near Starlight. They cross the bridge.. BOOM. Bad gnomes, BAD
Um. the settlers would not live long enough to make it that far. The bridge is nowhere near that spot.

Explosions like Tucker bridge can also end up overloading the protected status and killing them.

rad poisoning is a hell of a drug

that's my head cannon too that some stuff is in their minds or some random raider or settler went nuts started pulling castaway with tom hanks lvl of wilsons all over the place.

Some make sense but others don't. Plus there are some things that are already unlocked that should be locked like safes making me think the person you play as was already there and went back in through short term memory loss.

For a logical explanation - mining chokepoints has always made sense, when someone or something you don't like is on the other side of the chokepoint.
