I hate Nuka world
Nuka world has given me quite a lot of headache. I honestly didn't want to join the raiders but I still want that special perks they give you before i kill all of them but apparently i need to invade (or buy) 3 settlements to get to that point. I knew Gravy would hate it but DAM thats just an understatement. my man just mouthed me off.
I don't want to join the raiders but at the same time I would lose a huge chunk of the Nuka world. I just want to know if they stuff i end up with really worth joining the Raiders and betraying the MM?

What perk do you get if you become evil and invade 3 settlements?

You get 2 out of these 3:

Ace Operator - Increased stealth in shadows, +25% damage with silenced weapons
Chosen Disciple - Restore some action points when you make a kill with a melee weapon
Pack Alpha - Reduces damage taken by 25% (always), and you deal 25% more damage with melee weapons or unarmed.

Siding with the raiders also gives the Wasteland Warlord perk, which is what unlocks the special raider settlement things you can build.

Disciples perk is surely powerful, but honestly unneeded on decent level with decent build. Can't go wrong with the other two.
As for raiders conundrum, you can use mod, or do Nuka World and wipe raiders before doing First Step for minutemen, or doing nuka world after Old Guns and getting the Preston perk.

I chose to play as a righteous character I can live without the perks, weapons and whatever else. I felt annoyed with the raiders roping me in like that and making me feel forced to be their lackey, helping them is everything I am against. I would never go against the Minutemen or put settlements at risk. I just wiped all the Raiders out as soon as I could, didn't even bother getting land for them in the park.

I am doing fine at level 66 now and building up settlements. If you play on normal the game is easy anyway and you don't really need all those perks.

I might play a evil ruthless character next play through and be as murderous and evil as possible just for fun.

There is a way to get the perks and keep Preston happy but in your case it would involve starting a new game. Basically you have to go finish the Nuka world content siding with the gangs and then go and rescue Preston and Co from the museum. He will then yell at you but give you the option to kill the Nuka World raiders.

Your other option is the console and adding the perks.

The perks are nice and each of the raider gangs has a specific perk:

"Disciples Perk: Chosen Disciple

The Disciples' bonus perk is very beneficial for melee builds that utilise VATS. Any kills you make with a melee weapon will restore 'some' of your Action Points. From peeking at the game code, it would seem this gives you 25% of AP back on kill 100% of the time.

Operators Perk: Ace Operator

Working with the Operators raider gang will be handy for builds that are stealth-heavy. When in the shadows, your character gets a 10% bonus to their sneak ability. Damage with silenced weapons (suppressor attached) deal 25% additional damage. This is not just when sneak attacking or in the shadows. With this Perk you'll get the benefit of having any weapon with a suppressor gain a damage bonus that works at all times.

The Pack Perk: Pack Alpha

Pack Alpha is quite an interesting Perk, particularly for melee builds as it gives you a 25% bonus to melee and unarmed damage. However, its secondary function is to provide increased damage resistance. This is not a flat amount, it actually takes incoming damage from energy/physical effects and reduces it by 25%. On top of your armour, this can be a huge bonus and may interest even non-melee players."

I've actually saw that advice somewhere too about doing the Nuka before doing the other thing. seems like this playthrough is gonna be perkless. thanks for the perk info as well

yeah.. im now convinced to just kill them. the only thing bothers me is I spend a whole day locking and picking this dam safe to get Gage's affinity but since I had my crisis with what i mentioned I had to reload previous safe where i didn't move to commonwealth. I personally don't like cheating but I really want to know if there is any command to maximise his affinity again so I could at least get something out of Nuka before i kill everyone

Gropanga gave the console command to remove Preston from your faction, so he don't piss off when you capture settlements. And after you get the perks another command to rejoin to your faction.

I used them in my current game and I didn't have any issue, but I recomend you that make a backup save before you use them.

I paste his message:

There's a work around I just found. Below is the script that is triggered when you drop the raider flag in "Home Sweet Home". If you remove him from the companion table:

Click on Preston with the console:
removefromfaction A1B85

After the quest is completed you can add him back:
addtofaction A1B85 1

This will prevent him from hating you and will be oblivious to what transpired. I hope this helps.

The gangs in Nuka World give some nice perks. But you do not need them to be successful in the game. I do Open Season shortly after I get to Nuka World because my char hates raiders and is not going to betray the MM.

And normally by the time I finish up with Nuka World, I am ready to start a new play run. So the raider benefits mean nothing for my chars. I am on like my 14th play run now. Already thinking about what type of run I want to do on my next play thru.

There's a mod on nexus that allows you to skip raiding settlements.

I dont really care about the perks. I do like the loot in Nuka World. Seven power armors, two of which are nicely tricked out. Tons of 7.62 weapons to outfit settlers with. Splattercannon and Problem Solver. Plus a metric crap-ton of baddies to eliminate.

+ Environment design. I could play there for days just admiring the buildings and world. Bethesda imo really nailed that aspect in FO4. It's perfection.

I did max affinity with Gage before wiping the Raiders. It took quite a long time of just improving a board weapon then sleep for 48 hours and repeat. But got it eventually.

I also like it. The way to terrain is designed. Red Rocket in Nuka World, is one of the best settlements in the game imo. And the Nuka World Power Armor, which is already fully upgraded, grants +3 to agility and mainly only needs steel to repair, is one my favorite Power Armors.

Interesting. What other quest steps for him did you do before that?

That's what you get when you force yourself to do things that you don't want to do just to try to be cool.
