Everyone says noodle cups, but I prefer iguana on a stick, mirelurk egg omelettes, and other lightweight foods. Forget cooking and just eat mutfruits if you have solar powered or a decontamination arch. It really does not matter

I just concentrate on what's available at the time, for the station I'm using (I also use Wastelander's Cookbook and Better Cooking Stations). One of those two actually adds Rads to all cooked items (which makes sense), which I highly recommend for Survival.

Veggie Soup is the best. Better HP than noodle cups plus it gives hydration and Rad resistance (always a plus on Survival).

Tatos are common so all you really need to do is grow carrots or get them at Graygarden.

Just remember to save all bottles for dirty water.

Refreshing beverage is a cure for additions. It does grant HP but not hydration. And I'm not sure it actually staves off hunger. It's more like using a stimpack without the thirst complication.

Stick with Veggie soup.

I just cook whatever i happen to kill. Mutt chops, Radstag, Yao guei, molerat. Its easy to run into something to kill and eat so half the time I don't even carry food on me.

I prefer raw human flesh.

If I may pop in, the single best Food To Cook for Survival (imo), is:

Grilled Radstag

+25 Carry Weight for 60 minutes(!)

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Grilled_radstag

Also, don't forget the handy
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mirelurk_cake
and
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Squirrel_stew_(Fallout_4)

Edit:
Oooh, a Seconding of Mirelurk Egg Omelettes, too
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Mirelurk_egg_omelette

Question:
Has anyone tested if Vodka heals instantly in Survival (it is supposed to even though it is Surv.Mode)?
I haven't run into any yet on my Survival run...

Doesn't all food's effect become negated in survival?

No, they all still 'do their thing' - but in Survival there are no 'instant' healing reactions anymore (Drugs are instant but make you Thirsty/Hungry/etc - everything has 'side effects'). Foods provide Buffs/Effects, but Healing/etc take time (maybe that's what you were thinking of?). Example Screenshot:

But THEN I read on the Wiki there, that Vodka 'healing' is still instant..?(?)
So, I was wondering if anyone has seen this yet, as I have no Bodka To Put Test Onk

if you want light-weight and easy to accesss, take a bunch of corn or tatos. I was carrying around melons because they do both water and food needs, but it is a bit heavy, and my character has leadbelly so getting water really isn't much of an issue.

Food effects do not work unless your hunger is sated.

Mirelurk Omlettes require the use of heavy mirelurk eggs. While the omlettes are light, the eggs to collect are not.

I personally buy noodle cups in Diamond City, and just eat whatever I find in the field. Cram is particularly valueble as one Cram will sate one level of hunger.

i have modded survival so that food doesn't heal. I just use food to eliminate the hunger.

Not too unrelated, there's a couple Wastelend Survival Guide magazines you should pick up right away for Survival:

1) The one at Sunshine Tidings Co-op, inside a locked cabin, is one that doubles/increases the amount of meat looted from animals and creatures you kill.

2) The one at USS Riptide lets you heal more from vegetables. (+50 %)

3) The one at Egret Tours Marina lets you heal more from packaged foods. (+50 %)

Thing to remeber though is noodle cups have half the wieght as soup since soup is a full 1 unit per while noodle cup is .5 units, which given the weight reduction in survival is about worth a small rad resistance bonus.

For RPy reason though I cary a little of each instead of one or the other.

Also I still say in the long run its more cost effective just to build medical stands in your settlements if you add up the costs all the antibiotics and refreshing beverage's ingredients and compare to the price of treatment.

i just restarted playing the game after a 6 month hiatis so my memory may not be accurate. But if i remember correctly, the noodle cup costs a fortune in Diamond city and is a pain in the ass to cook at a fire.

Razor grain + dirty water isn't that difficult (less ingredients than veggie soup) and you've likely already built grain plants if you want Brahmin to use for jet crafting, since survival encourages you to really develope your settlements so you always have a check point and services somewhere nearby.

Mind you I do agree it was rather stupid on Bethesda's part to not let us craft multiple of the same item at once.
