Crash on loading save and starting a new game
I've had no problems in the past with the game crashing. However, after getting a new GPU my game crashes whenever I either load a save (any save) or start a new game. Is there any way to fix this? I'm not running any mods.

same here.

I've tried all the fixes i could find on the web.
Seems like quite the common issue atm affecting quite a few.

From what i can gather, most players get theirs working by completely turning off "weapon debris". However, I've had no luck so far even with that fix.

Mine normally CTD after a minute - 10 min when playing, with no error message.

Sometimes it'll crash during gameplay, other times it'll crash when fast travelling, all normally within 30min of playing.

No pattern i can pick up.

I've also recently just upgraded to an RTX card.

Windows also recently rolled out another update that broke UAC (again) for a lot of people. If this is what's causing you problems, the ultimate solution is to move your game library out from under \Program Files (x86). In fact, all of Steam should be moved out to its own folder under root of whatever drive on which it is installed.

Fresh install of windows and drivers. Make a copy of your game saves if its vanilla with no mods, you can copy and load them up after.

My docs/my games/fallout4/saves

happened to me when the game first came out.

Check for graphics updates, Do a system diagnostic, Make sure windows doesn't need an update, Run a game through its normal .exe (AKA: The fallout 4.exe) To let the game know what graphics card is inserted. Also try playing other games to see if its working.
Note: make sure you have installed your graphics card correctly.

I have the latest drivers and the latest Windows update. Every other game works fine, it's only Fallout 4 that crashes.

Run fallout 4 like the vanilla game and press options to check to see if it detects your graphics card.

tried reinstalling the game or reinstalling the programs it needs to run.

This might sound like a silly question, Did you update also update your drivers AFTER the windows install . It doesn't mean just because you reinstalled Windows (10) , don't assume the driver's are the latest versions .

i normally update my drivers first before update my windows 10 because sometimes it can cause detection issues. Like i have never had an issue of changing my graphics card and the game not working. I guess depends on what graphics card you use bc sometimes fallout 4 cant detect some graphic cards. And i rll dont think its got to do with the windows 10 update considering you can play other games.

I reinstalled the game and now it won't even launch.
