Script extender installation issues.
Okay, so i looked up how to to install the script extender at https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=682660057
and followed it step by step until the part i get to the part where it says to rename my Fallout4.exe file. This file along with any .exe file are missing. I am confused because the game itself runs fine. is there something i'm missing? please help.

Those instructions are made for people, who insist on running game through Steam directly. There is no sense in that.

You are using mod manager anyway for your mods (right?) and you will be running the game through manager anyway, if you use either of the up to date mod managers - Vortex or MO2. What's the point of fiddling with executable files then, when you can - and actually have to - point the launcher to run F4SE instead of Fallout4.exe from mod manager?

Yes, listen to Ilja. "Run F4SE through the Fallout 4 Launcher", do you know how wrong this sentence sounds to an experienced mod user(or to anyone fed up with CC updates)?

thank you for replying. i do use vortex, however a number of my mods either aren't working or the game doesn't even register them as being there, so i was trying to go through the list of ways to remedy this. i'm new to the use of mods so i while i suspected, i wasn't sure if if vortex functioned as a script extender.
if any one has any idea on how to fix my issue it would be appreciated. again thank you for taking the time to respond to my post.

Vortex is a bit complex. The content you install in to game is not being shown in Data folder, because the tool uses symlinks for them.

Best to make sure that files are installed correctly. Gopher made a good tutorial series for Vortex and just updated it.

If that does not solve it, then I will dig up our Vortex users for further help. I am using MO2 myself, so I am only testing Vortex features over new releases and not actually playing with it.

I use a desktop shortcut that loads f4se_loader.exe. Steam starts on bootup, so I just double-click the desktop shortcut to launch F4SE. I do not have to rename any exe files in the Fallout 4 folder. You can change the icon of a desktop shortcut and point to the Fallout4.exe file to get the Icon of Vault Boy.
