Fallout 4
Has anyone played a complete vanilla experience?
So Its been a while since I played this game and I was wondering... Would a vanilla play through be worth it or should I just stick to modding the game again? I never did a vanilla pass on this game and it got me wondering if I should...

Well I am playing vanilla. Body reskin doesn't count as changing gameplay experience. I think is quite good to play without mods unless you wish for diferent animations, reskin or diferent look.
Yes back on the PS4 i got it on day one and my PS4 is not online. But now i got a monster PC and i'm running about 160 mods.
The only mods I use for FO4 are purely aesthetic, so yes, go for it. I would suggest the "place anywhere" mod for settlement building though, because the restrictions with vanilla are horrible :cozybethesda:
I think vanilla can be quite interesting. Especially since you haven't done a vanilla run yet.
There are some here that refuse to use any mods. Not even the unofficial patch. The game can be played entirely in vanilla.

I always start a new game I buy on vanilla and with no DLC installed to see what pure vanilla is like. But I never completely finish a game that way. I get about a 1/3 of the way and then want to restart to do it a 'better way'. That's when I start adding some mods and adding DLC. But I use only a few mods. I do not like changing the gameplay too much. I do have about 10 settlement building mods so I can get creative. Those do not change the gameplay. The gameplay mods I use are mostly for convenience. I got sick and tired of my companion chasing the radstags all the time and no way to call them back. So I added a 'tame deer' mod and a mod that lets you control the companions better. The companion control mod can change the gameplay a lot but you do not have to use those features. I use another one that makes the Minutemen stronger because I do not want to see them all being killed in every fight they have.

I played all the way to near the end on my first play through with no mods.
Then I added, lowered weapons, true storms, enhanced blood and more where that came from (radio mod) - all aesthetic.
I have and I still do.
The only exceptions to that is CC content now. (Wasteland Workshop, Charlestown Condo, and the weapon pack with the BFG 9000).
I had a couple of playthroughs under my belt before the DLCs came out, no mods, no commands. I still don't use any outside mods, but really enjoy the DLCs and I do pick up free stuff from the CC. Just my choice, though, since I mod the heck out of other games.

Raises hand.
I played and completed the game without mods, and it was still fun, and a good game. Of course, now there are a few mods I cannot live without, but all of my mods just expand on the vanilla game. Most of it is lore-friendly or dressed up like it is.
Only mod I ever tried was Frost and got rid of it after about an hour. Other than that no mods.
Only play survival

I tried going back to normal play after my first survival playthrough. Just couldn't do it. I have changed my playing style many times but survival is it.
Well i think the first mod that appeared on Nexus for Fallout 4 was a basic lightning mods, even the nude mods was out 1 - 2 months later.

I finished the game main story without any mods, it was fun and joyful... of course now it feels so bland for me (after i installed 200 mods), but its not that bad
A good portion of the game price is used to pay music loyalty fee, I hope the next game has less licensed musics, and the dev spend money on more important things.

Hmm. It's old music, with some in public domain, others with expired copyrights, and hall of fames. Plus they recycled a lot from FO3. I don't think they spent a lot of money on that.
Still the radios are quite gold, and whoever picked the songs have good tastes
