Everyone laugh at my misfortune please

So I was walking through downtown boston, just got into a skirmish with some super mutants. I'm running an early game mercenary build with an automatic rifle, shotgun, and a desert eagle 50cal, with frag grenades and mines to back me up. I also use the BLD mod to make damage more punishing and more realistic for all HUMANS, including myself.

I start approaching the BADTFL regional offices. I've been to this location on previous playthroughs, and there were always about 3-5 raiders out front. I approach this time with a scanner (red bodies are live enemies, blue bodies are all dead), and notice that all the bodies I am seeing are blue. Huh, thats never happened before. I approach and notice a couple of dead caravan guards too, but no caravan or pack brahim. Start getting bad vibes all of a sudden.

Pulled out my rifle and approached one of the dead raiders. Took his loot, then crouched to check my status. Status suddenly goes from 'Hidden' to 'Caution'. I turn around and about fifty yards away is see 'something' slip out of view behind one of the buildings. I didn't catch a good glimpse of what it was. I crouch down and cautiously begin to approach.

Then, less than twenty yards away, a deathclaw pops out of the building, looking right at me.

Queue panic, swearing, gunfire, backpedaling, roaring, throwing grenades, slashing and eventually me jumping into the water and swimming away to escape it. Never managed to kill that infernal thing, even when I came back there. Good to know this game can still scare the f#ck out of me when it wants to, more effectively than any jumpscare will ever do.

If your quick and nifty you can lure it onto that Super Mutant outfit close by at the building site then get high(er) and watch the fun ..maybe loot away a bit later when it's left!

Oh no, with this mod the deathclaws slaughter the mutants. Only real downside unfortunately is that BLD makes mutants too squishy. They need to soak up a bit more damage.

Well, at least you saw that deathclaw ... the one that grabbed hold of me near the same area just yanked me off my feet and started pounding me into the pavement. God I hate those things. At least my level was high enough that I eventually shotgunned him to death, but it was a near thing. Then I had to get rid of the other things in the area, but they were like prairie dogs in comparison.

(Those who live in areas prone to prairie dog infestations will understand the reference. They are prolific little bastards.)

Yeah, it actually was quite fun, and scared the f#ck out of me. This is why I like the bethesda rpgs.

Not found that one yet. I did however try clearing out a farm and noticed something called an albino fogcrawler out in the water. I though, ok, that thing looks like it may present a moderate threat, but nothing that my armor-piercing assault rifle can't handle.

Then the fog crawler got closer, and I realized it looked much smaller in the distance. Blew its head off and it was still coming at me. Thankfully I had power armor on, but it still got royally f#cked in the process.

Last night had an epic fight with a legendary glowing deathclaw (killed me twice before I found a way to beat him - my companion Nick was next to useless).. was about to savour my success as he fell to the floor when I was immediately jumped on by an Assaultron that had been watching from the overpass above. Scared the life out of me.

It's a funny game really.. you can get the biggest scares over something really silly like a radroach jumping out at you unexpectedly.

Mind you tonight was bizarre, was sneaking up to a location which had supermutants lurking outside. A bunch of those stingwings were hovering nearby so I tried to skirt around them to avoid a fight and attract the attention of the supermutants. Of course Nick goes in like a bull in a china shop and aggros the stingwings, throwing grenades at them. One of my provisioners happened to be passing by and amongst the confusion I must have accidentally shot at the provisioner, because both the provisioner and Nick then started shooting at ME. I reloaded a previous save on that one.

I can't wait to get Nick's perk then cart him back to Diamond City never to be seen again.

I went into Boston Commons where Piper told me about how I shouldn't be there, noticing no threat I continued sneaking through it with no enemies. Then I saw the Swan Lake and noticed "Swan" and thought "Oh a unique friendly Mirelurk!" since it looked like a white shell sticking out of the water and the nameplate was passive coloured. So I walked up to it....

Nick Valentine. I was doing his backstory quest (Long Time Coming), and arrived at one of the police stations. As soon as I picked up the holotape, a pack of Rust Devils with robots showed up and started looking for me. When the inevitable firefight started, a deathclaw was atttracted by the noise, followed by a BOS vertibird that started strafing everyone. Eventually the vertibird landed and dropped off several soldiers who joined in. I pretty much hid out and watched the firefight. Eventually only a couple of damaged BOS were left, when I finished them off Nick came out of hiding with one of his droll comments...
