Best melee weapons?
I normally play a sneaky sniper build. But I wanted to try something different (and finish Nuka-World without using console commands), so I made a Raider-y character who uses melee weapons almost exclusively.

Right now, she's level 15 and has Grognak's Axe as her main weapon. For medium-to-long-range combat, I have Wastelander's Friend (legendary 10mm from Deb at Bunker Hill), though I'd rather not use guns at all, if I don't have to.

I currently have rank 1 Blacksmith, but I was disappointed to note that my axe can't be modded at the workbench. Other than random drops, are there any in-game melee weapons you guys would suggest for this sort of playthrough?

(I don't use mods or CC, as I don't want achievements disabled until I have them all.)

Thanks!

Why stab things when you can smash them?

Stabbing is faster, and SCAV! doesn't have an issue that gives +25% damage to smashing. :steammocking:
there is a sword in the bottom of a radioactive pond in dunwhich borers that does poison and bleeding damage. I think its called kirmveth or something like that. Any how its a great weapon for any melee player. The bat in jamica plains also is a good option if you want to send people to the moon on crits.

its been a while since I been to them but in the basement of some art shop (forget the name) is a nice unique knife, and also at the end of Dunwhich Borers is a great melee weapon

If I may share the two I am most partial to; I get the most kicks out of the 2076 World Series Baseball Bat (found in Jamaica Plain) - which has a chance on every hit to send the enemy flying through the air lol

My second place [so far] is Cito's Shiny Slugger (Nuka-World DLC), as it's a nice high-damage rocket bat that has a chance to Refill your Action Points completely (similar to the Relentless Legendary Effect).

Damage Examples:
Cito's Shiny Slugger = 125 base dmg
Atom's Judgement = 40 dmg (Super Sledge) base dmg + 100 (Radiation) dmg
Deathclaw Gauntlet (Upgraded) = 45 base dmg

GL finding something you like :cozybethesda:

I got the GOTY, and I found the World Series Bat was amazing.

Swap it over to aluminum, then grab the spiked stunning rocket, and not only are you doing major damage, but you have a chance of stunning it and/or of knocking it into a heap--either way, you can hurry up and belt it a few more times before it's up and hitting you back again.

Only problem is that sometimes when you kill an enemy you really send it flying, and you can't loot them.
Best melee weapon ?

Mini-gun with "shredder" modification without the ammo !
(the enemy you "shred" in front of you cannot even touch you) :steamhappy:

One slightly sad thing is that NPCs don't seem to use it that way, so you can't have a bunch of settlers carving all their attackers into kibble.
For pure one hit damage , esp. against human enemies, nothing beats Atom's Judgement. I normally like to carry two melee weapons. One slow one for hard hitting kills and a fast one for multiple targets.

Which is why I like Atom's Judgement and the Throat Slicer. Both are from DLC's however. The best overall melee weapon I have ever had however, was a Instigating Disciple's Blade.

Any legendary that sends enemies ragdolling into the horizon when it hits them. IE a doom mace.
