Second, the F4SE version for the current exe was released just hours after the exe itself. That night, in fact. Steam will always download the latest updates by default. F4SE will always have the latest update on f4se.silverlock.org by default. They also have an archive link on the main page for older releases.
Last, it's up to mod authors to keep their SE dependent mods up to date. If the SE dependent mod is not being maintained, it's probably better to do without it. However, LooksMenu is not one of those abandoned mods, it's been updated for two days now. I'm not ragging on you or beating up on your decisions. I'm just making a statement of fact that your life wil be a lot easier and more pain free if you dump whatever SE dependent, abandoned, add in for LooksMenu you're using. And if you're not using anything like that, why not update?
My game can run fine with normal Fallout4.exe (all mods disabled) but it crashes on startup when I run f4se_loader (mods disabled again) .
So my conclusion is something's wrong with the script extender since vanilla game runs fine. Any idea what might be causing this?
open the f4se zip file (06_06) select all and extract to steamapps/common/fallout4 say yes if asked to overwrite
open nmm , update the mods that require f4se to work .
run loot
start the game with the regular launcher one time . you only need to go as far as the screen where you can select a save to load , this lets f4se see what it needs to hook into
launch the game via the f4se_loader.exe
should work , if not run the f4se_loader.exe as admin ,
if not ,open the f4se logs in docs>games>fallout 4 (where your saves are)
these will show whats malfunctioning
I believe the issue is within F4SE itself but I can't manage to find out what exactly. (Since F4se doesn't run with all mods disabled).
I found out people were having issues with overlays + this but I disabled everything that had an overlay running over my game and still can't run it with f4se.
f4se does not need mods to run , some mods my need it (f4se) if you disable all mods or some you may break the saves that rely on them , you are doing more damage than good by just doing things without knowing what you're doing .
I did. It still crashes.
I don't think pike knows what he's talking about, he's just here to argue and troll.
