FPS issue
So a fresh reinstall of Fallout 4 didnt help

heres my issue

When I have vsync on in-game I get MAX of 48 FPS and lots of stuttering, when I turn it off with F4 Tweaker I get way above 150+ and the game runs really fast

Is this a known issue of a bug or something?

If I run at 1080p its fine and I get over 150 but when I revert to my native 1440p its then stuck at max 48

Any ideas?

SPECS
i9-9900k
GTX 2080
32GB RAM
1440p resolution

UPDATE

Managed to fix it, running everything Ultra at 1440p.

I made sure "iPresentInterval=" was set to "0" in the Fallout4Prefs.ini then downloaded Nvidia Inspector[www.guru3d.com] and changed the Max FPS to 144hz
Fallout 4 will now run in 1440p 144hz no issues or speedup.. but smooth 144hz on Ultra

You are processing 1,612,800 more pixels at 1440 than you are at 1080

If I may, your monitor is likely 144Hz Refresh, and when a game can't get the 144 fps with Vsync [related to tulle's comment] it is locking it back to something it can get [seems like it can get 50ish so it locks it back at 1/3 (48 is 1/3 of 144)], which it does so it is 'at least smooth/no lag with no tearing' when Vertical Sync is on.

Unlock the game refresh (change iPresentInterval=1 to 0 in INI file, Fallout4Prefs in game folder>Fallout4 and Fallout4Prefs in Docs>MyGames>Fallout4) then lock the framerate to 60 or 61 with another program (MSI's Afterburner, or EVGA's Precision X, or ASUS's GPU Tweak, etc. most game recording programs can also lock the framerate for you [to play FO4 with]).
60 is the recommended for FO4 for the phyisics to work 'normal' but you can get away with ~70 if you really wanted it.

Yeah, why have you not just turned it off in settings for your game and then in in your Nvidia control panel then set your desired fps there using the slider.

Also are you in windowed borderless?

Is this an add for your personal malware of choice?

Thanks, spent ages trying to figure out why I was only getting 48 fps. Disabling vsync was the answer! Hopefully nvidia fix this as I doubt Bethesda are ever putting a fix out.

Update:
Vsync was only part of the problem, to fully resolve the issue I did the following

- Forced a FPS cap of 60 using river tuner (or software of your choice)
- Opened falloutprefs.ini from my documents in a text editor and edited:
Weapon debris to off

[NVFlex]
bNVFlexEnable=0
iQuality=0
iMaxNeighbors2=64
iMaxNeighbors1=48
iMaxNeighbors0=32
iMaxParticles2=32768
iMaxParticles1=16000
iMaxParticles0=6000
fKillRadius2=4000.0000
fKillRadius1=3000.0000
fKillRadius0=2000.0000
bNVFlexInstanceDebris=0
bNVFlexDrawDebris=0

And disabled vsync:
iPresentInterval=0

Then made sure not to run the launcher again otherwise it may automatically remove these changes.

Apparently been an issue since launch, doubt it gets fixed. I made a guide for it in the guide section, share if you know anyone else that has this issue.

Ah I see your guide pretty much says what I figured out cool and ohhh you can run the game at a higher fps than 60?? pretty sure this wasn't possible due to the engine?

I know from past entries the engine has trouble with animations, physics and speed ups as a result of higher frame rates.
