Killing 4 factions?
So last time I played I went as goody-two-shoes as possible and went with the railroad, taking out the brotherhood and freeing the synths but evacuating the institute. So with our liberated synths and our minutemen forts we helped blah blah blah war never changes.

So I am getting that Fallout itch again, so I have a plan, but I need to clarify some stuff. I have the season pass, so I'm aware Nuka-World gives me some more options with harassing the Minutemen. But Basically, I want to take them all out for the heck of it, and try and be as much of a "Sole Survivor" in the literal sense by well.

So by your knowledge, what faction path do I have to follow to do the most damage to the other factions, that would still let me blow up the Institute by the end? And does the Raider factions from Nuka-World allow me to actually take out the Minutemen or just make them hostile?

For starters, Minuteman is indestructible. Preston Garvey is practically immortal, and it's there for a reason: it's the only way of completing the game should you be enemies with all other factions. You can keep siding with the Raiders for indefinitely, but still, it only makes Preston leave you and locking you from the rest of the Minuteman quests.

So there you have it, Minuteman. I think you can probably side with BoS to kill Institute and Railroad, then have the Minuteman destroy BoS. Obviously kick the raider outposts out of Nuka-World.

Thanks yeah last time since there is like no consequence even though I was trying to clean up the Wasteland I still did the Nuka raider quests.

Then ran them out of the place.

So yeah I just was looking for the right combination of things. I personally will try and work a good path out, I would prefer doing Rockets' Red Glare again but I will need to check where the softlocks are on the faction missions.

The general idea is just to do a sort of Genocide Run Um...Scrapper Run.

I'd say the best you can do with getting rid of people is to leave the Minutemen survivors stuck in the museum in Concord.

I'd suggest going with the Railroad, since you could just turn on them and shoot them dead after completing the main quest. You might be able to do something similar by siding with the Institute and just going on a killing spree after things are wrapped up, but I'm less clear on how that would work out after completing the main quest.

Yeah, I'm just here to echo what RealOfficialTurf (first reply) wrote. You can be a full fledged Nuka-Raider before the main story is complete, upsetting the Minutemen, but you can always be friendly with the Minutemen again by betraying the Nuka-Raiders, although that process is irreversible (once you betray Nuka-Raiders, you can't be on friendly terms with them again).

The Minutemen, as RealOfficialTurf wrote, are the fallback faction, if all other factions are hostile.

It's possible to destroy all factions with only Minutemen left standing, although strictly speaking and where the lore is concerned, not the Brotherhood of Steel in its entirety, but at least their branch or "franchise" in the Commonwealth can be "destroyed" (not entirely, but pretty much their main base of operations).

There is a way to get what you're trying to achieve. I'd write a bit more now, but, y'know, bit busy. Maybe I'll visit this thread again and write in a bit more detail by then.

yeah I feel like Railroad, then backstabbing them, and siding with Inst. Or just what you said about betraying the Railroad (less work).

But Brotherhood are...Just mostly jerks in this one which was a real shame but they are satisfying to take them out in the Railroad one as opposed to Minutemen.

I am aware that New Vegas has only really companions and children as locked essentials. Which is...Interesting.

And Morrowind Is an interesting possibility but it just hasn't aged well as a whole. But I am let down by how many Skyrim characters have the essential flag, and really caught off guard by the amount in Oblivion.

I would add to this the particular detail that if you've joined the Minutemen before helping the Nuka World gangs invade the Commonwealth, helping them will permanently and irreversibly destroy your relationship with Preston Garvey and prevent his use as a companion, even if you can still do general Minutemen stuff.

So if you want his companion perk, either do all the Nuka World stuff before getting Preston to Sanctuary, or get his perk before letting the gangs into the Commonwealth.

Oh, that is an important detail to take note of. I never knew that, and that bit of information will be helpful to other players who have yet to play Nuka-World and haven't got his perk yet.

Truth be told, I completed the Nuka-World campaign just for the sake of Achievements. I was aware of being able to reconcile with the Minutemen again, but I never bothered haha, because who would want to make amends with Garvey anyway! (at least in that particular playthrough of mine)
