Are you a collector? Do you buy all the uniques?
I am a collector. In all games. I must have some of everything there is to find. For FO4, I want to someday build my lair and decorate a junk room and a science lab with everything. Everything I collect goes into containers first. Separated by weapons, clothing, junk and misc. Then I scrap only those things I have a lot of. I know - a sickness. Also, I will probably never build my lair. That takes too much time.
I also would like to buy all the unique items from the vendors. But some are very expensive. I will someday, I guess.
Any other compulsive collectors here?

Generally, I lean more toward collecting than .... living-off-the-land, I guess?

I also frequently play with nethack-esque conducts I decide on, which has the practical consequence that I often compulsively collect specific categories or groups of items in games.

Buying the unique gear from shops is one that I don’t typically go for, in Fallout. Apparently I miss out on lots of highly-rated weapons. :spazdunno:

I am never going to actually use those armors or weapons. I just need to have them. Because they are there. And maybe display them, someday.

I basically only get in power armor to walk it back to wherever I came from.

I’m probably also never going to use all those teddy bears.

One save in NV I had a rather sharp library built up in Novac. The catch was I couldn’t benefit from them.

I compulsively collect junk. But just to build with, not to display or anything.
Sometimes I'll buy a unique weapon, if it seems better than what I have.
Purchase Big Boy, mod with Mirv, have much fun.
I basically collect anything that has a unique model and a unique purpose, doesn't always have to though. Back when I was a console peasant, when the content was dry I'd look for every shop in the commonwealth and spend my caps on buying every unique named weapon in the game because at that point I was well by then beated the game (mind you this was before mods came on the PS4) so that was my end-gameplay. Collecting named weapons and armors, didn't matter if it costed 30k caps I likely already had it.

I lost interest in most of the "collector" stuff (robot models, ect) when I realized there was no mount or display for them. I like the magazines because I can build racks to display them. Bobbleheads to a lesser degree.

Though that's just a side aspect. The main reason I play Fallout 4 is for the post-apocalyptic exploration feel with danger mixed in.

There is a youtube video by a British guy named Cee Jae who has a whole Power Armor Collection and it appears he may have downloaded a mod to enable it. Here's the link:

I absolutely collect everything even remotely unique, usually along with substantial stocks of non-unique stuff, especially if it's a little difficult to find (but large reserves of general items as well). If an NPC even has unique clothes, I'll find a way to steal them if it's possible.

I don't necessarily display it (because there's no non-messy way to do that for a lot of items), I just have boxes and boxes of stuff. I have one shelf of legendary items sorted into several alphabetical boxes (also divided by weapons and armour) just because scrolling down through the contents of a single box had taken too long.

One particular pet habit is taking everything that has no weight but has a cap value; folders, burnt magazines, pens, pencils, and so on (but not cigarettes, because they go with the cartons and packs of cigarettes in the cigarette machine).

I'm even disappointed that in my main game I didn't know that there were three different "named" power armour frames, and I only have one (being past the point where I could potentially take the other two). I don't even like using it, but I need things in my collection. I do at least have each obtainable rank of the Brotherhood power armour:

I tend to horde everything. I have a wall of crates all labelled for legendary gear, uniques, basic stuff, all separated. I keep the more rare/interesting junk in a separate box than the workshop. I've been contemplating making a 'wasteland museum' somewhere, was considering a nuka cola museum out of the nuka world rr, but there's not a lot in the base game workshop wise. As it stands, all I have is a display case with almost all of the stuff from the jamaica plain vault.

i, for some reason, if i pass by an unmarked location that has a random power armor, i will take it and stop whatever i was doing to bring it back to sanctuary

i also like to collect deathclaws (cage and beta wave emiter)

....you might have a slight issue. I recommend setting your house on fire to rectify this. Yes, it will be distressing at first, then you will feel like an enormous weight was just lifted from your shoulders.
